Senior Oracle Database Administrator

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will be the technical subject matter expert in the area of Oracle Database Administration. You will work with covering servers, application, storage and related technologies.

In this position, you will be responsible for supporting Oracle servers and databases, including troubleshooting, implementation of physical database changes, performance tuning, capacity planning, index tuning, monitoring critical events and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain Oracle platform;
• Administer and provide support for Oracle environment including clustered instances in both virtual and physical environments;
• Perform database administration tasks including backups, monitoring, performing database copies, working on database enhancements for existing applications, investigating and responding to incidents and events, performance checks, evaluating/monitoring system logs, disk space, sizing, limits for Oracle engine, applying security patches, performing health checks (administration), upgrading RDBMS;
• Serve as backend expert for installing and supporting Oracle Golden Gate within Xylem’s Data Warehousing environment running in Oracle;
• Collaborates with the DBA team leader and other colleagues within the team in ensuring that work requirements are met and delivered according to commitment and quality standards.
• Perform rotating on-call duty with the DBA team’s 24x7 enterprise-wide support following company policies and work agreements.

Qualifications

• Several year´s of work experience as Oracle Database Administrator with a thorough understanding of RDBMS
• Experience in troubleshooting and isolating between network, server and application performance issues and the ability to calmly troubleshoot in high pressure situations, and effectively command control of crisis situations
• Experienced in working as Level 3 support for database related incidents and change requests, with committed SLAs and performance metrics
• Extensive experience in administrating Oracle on UNIX platform
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Demonstrated analytical problem solving skills
• Self-motivated, able to set priorities and translate specific goals into action and follow through to achieve goals and execute projects with minimal oversight
• Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersed
