Responsibilities

Overall Function

The Senior Manager, Internal Communications for Global Missions serves as a strategic partner and communications leader in developing and executing a global internal communications strategy to support EDF’s multi-disciplinary and multi-country work aimed at addressing the most critical climate and environmental challenges we face today.

This role will be responsible for working with Global Mission (program) staff and partners in all geographies where we operate to capture specific stories of impact and success, and then ladder up to a larger communications campaign that articulates the global strategy behind EDF’s work and collaborative approach to achieving results.  This position will focus on internal communications for senior leaders on the Global Mission team.

This role will also use communications to facilitate and enable operations and alignment across the team. The team has recently implemented a new working model that relies on fast and regular communication, so this role will develop and execute a schedule of regular communications updates using a variety of mediums including written, videos and events. This role will also prioritize accessibility for employees across all our geographic locations, including language and time zone considerations.

This is highly-collaborative global communications role based in the EDF internal communications team, which is part of the broader Marketing and Communications team. This role will ensure that Global Mission internal communication plans are integrated with broader EDF internal communication plans, and in line with external communications plans related to topics including partnerships and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the main internal communications partner for Global Mission internal communications, including communications strategy development and tactical execution in consultation with the VP of Global Mission
  • Daily work includes ghost writing content for senior executives, producing emails and intranet features, producing graphics and videos, and organizing events aimed at informing and engaging employees on specific topics.
  • Responsible for developing a communications plan that incorporates recurring campaigns, and emerging communications needs across all platforms including events, intranet features, targeted emails, and explanatory content packages.
  • Develop and organize recognition communications and provide communications support for team building efforts across Global Mission.
  • Work with partners to provide content and narrative for annual board reporting and other periodic impact reporting.
  • Reviews all Global Mission internal communications to ensure consistent global messaging on vision and strategy, while also supporting more nuanced program-specific and culturally-specific communications.
  • Seeks to go “beyond the basics” when recommending communications tactics, including incorporation of phased approaches, multi-media, and engagement elements.
  • Incorporates accessibility considerations to ensure all members of the team feel included and represented, specifically representative content, language and time zone considerations.
  • Comfortable investigating and exploring new technologies, and collaborating with EDF’s IT team  to adopt new technology applications for internal communications purposes on a global scale
  • Provides communications coaching to senior leaders, including for live presentations and video messages
  • Ensures the Global Mission organization has department-specific communication vehicles aimed at regularly sharing information across the global team
  • Works closely with Global Mission senior leadership and Marcomm on best practices for communicating information across the organization and within the Global Mission team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in communications, marketing/business, human resources or related field
  • 8+ years proven experience as a communications strategist, with documented experience producing content across mediums (including writing and editing for intranet, videos, live events) for global audiences
  • Comfortable with fast-changing conditions and navigating ambiguity
  • Culturally sensitive and highly emotionally intelligent
  • Comfortable using major communication platforms (WebEx, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.) to host and facilitate large and small interactive events Ability to apply indirect influence to achieve outcomes, including effectively persuading and professionally negotiating
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and take initiative to suggest improvements (continuous improvement mindset)
  • Proficient in 2 or more languages is a plus

Pay Ranges

Please note that pay ranges are country specific. As a result, the stated currency is not meant be converted into any other currency.

Minimum Salary

USD $96,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $106,000.00/Yr.
