Job Title: Senior Manager, Carbon Market Data and Analysis
Location: Remote - Worldwide (with significant overlap with US business hours)

Reports to: Chief Legal, Policy, and Markets Officer
With the rapid growth in carbon markets driving a new wave of project development, Verra is seeking a Senior Manager, Carbon Market Data and Analysis, in the Legal, Policy and Markets Department.

Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards – to identify projects that simultaneously address climate change, support local communities and smallholders, and conserve biodiversity.

Plastic Waste Reduction Program – to enable robust impact assessment of new or scaled-up waste recovery and recycling projects around the globe.
Carbon markets and climate action more generally are growing rapidly and driving ever-increasing levels of climate investment, much of it certified by Verra. At the same time, expectations for the nature and integrity of such investment are evolving and demanding new levels of sophistication and interaction with government policies and broader frameworks for climate action under the Paris Agreement. We are building Verra’s capacity to evaluate and engage with and engaging with its policy and market environment and to help foster the ongoing growth and maturation of its climate-related programs.
A day with Verra’s Legal, Policy, and Markets Department might include…
- Ensuring the relevance and quality of regular internal market intelligence briefings
- Coordinating internally to assess Verra’s needs for market and policy information and developing further systems and processes to meet these needs
- Preparing bespoke analysis of major market and policy developments to strengthen Verra’s strategy setting and decision-making
- Liaising with the communications team to strengthen Verra’s external messaging
- Convening research projects among Verra teams and external partners
- Leveraging data-led approaches to enhance the quality and efficiency of Verra’s project-related registration and issuance processes
- Liaising with external partners holding, analyzing and using market and policy related information to contribute further to transparency and understanding in the market
- Supporting future uses of carbon crediting, in particular among corporate users and country applications of the VCS Program
- Speaking at events and expert groups on behalf of Verra
Specific functions you will be responsible for leading...
- Build and manage an internal resource of carbon market intelligence of both a quantitative and qualitative nature, in relation to market developments, corporate action, country-level climate policy and multilateral initiatives.
- Enhance the useability and value of Verra’s internal data sources, including project data and registry transactions to support market analysis and data-driven approaches.
- Build distribution channels among Verra staff to keep staff informed of relevant developments and make effective use of market information and analysis
- Extending market analysis across to broader sustainable development applications of Verra’s certification programs
- Support the sharing of market information and analysis outside Verra
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop information and analysis services in support of their work areas, including communications, finance, program development and the process management of Verra’s certification programs.
- Collaborate with external institutes, thinktanks, associations and research firms to enhance the availability of market analysis to support Verra’s market impact.
- Support and coordinate research relating to Verra’s work, including developing and managing external research consultancy projects.
- Develop messaging and help respond to stakeholder and media queries.

- Significant relevant professional experience focused on market analysis and research in carbon markets.
- Understanding of global developments in climate action and financing arrangements, awareness of policy and market drivers, and familiarity with key stakeholders.
- An innovative, critical thinking mentality for solving complex and interconnected challenges and proposing clearly articulated, workable solutions;
- Track record of successfully contributing to and executing strategies.
- Strong organizational skills and discipline to be able to prioritize and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines in an independent manner.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining a professional approach and demeanor in high-pressure situations, and ability to work with stakeholders and partners from difference countries and cultures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in other languages would be an advantage.
