The Senior Manager is responsible for managing and developing the team in order to ensure successful program implementation and strong outcomes for Ampact programs. The Senior Manager provides inclusive and equitable program leadership, supervision, and accountability through the recruitment, development, management, and retention of diverse talent within the department. The Senior Manager is responsible for leadership of a team comprised of multiple functional roles.
This position is a key leader in establishing a positive tone and inclusive culture for the team and across the department and organization. The Senior Manager is responsible for mobilizing their team to provide an exemplary experience for partnering sites to ultimately maximize service recipient impact. This position will work collaboratively with functional program leadership team to set individual and team goals, implement programming, and achieve strategic direction. The position will work closely with program leadership, peers, and direct and indirect reports to ensure the Ampact programs achieve operational excellence. This position will observe confidentiality of all employee, member, program and organizational matters.
1. Staff Management, Development, and Support: Manage the performance of designated team.
Actions include employment decisions; onboarding, performance management and evaluations; staff development; and planning, assessing, assigning, and directing work. Additionally, address complaints, resolve problems and carry out disciplinary actions as necessary. Work with functional program leaders to ensure all staff are successful in meeting position objectives. Actively recruit a diverse staff and ensure that team environment is inclusive. Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities to staff. Work collaboratively with the Director of Programs, functional program leaders, and peers to develop staff trainings and ongoing meetings, to ensure excellence in programmatic implementation. Monitor and provide accountability to the key performance indicators for each position on the team.
2. Team Leadership and Communication: Ensure effective, consistent, timely communication and direction regarding team member functional responsibilities, best practices, requirements, and strategies. Participate in regular meetings with program leadership to ensure consistent programmatic leadership. Set goals and priorities for the team in alignment with direction provided from Director of Programs. Work with Director of Programs to ensure team is meeting expectations and keep program leadership informed on team’s progress in meeting objectives. Maximize service recipient and member outcomes. Work collaboratively with the Member Benefits and Compliance team and the Finance department to ensure fiscal and compliance excellence.
3. Implementation and Outcomes. Regularly review member recruitment and retention data, program implementation data and outcomes to monitor implementation and maximize equitable impact. Provide accountability and direction to staff to ensure members are implementing the model with fidelity, that outcomes are being achieved, and data is updated regularly by members. Work with Director of Programs and functional program leaders to refine and implement regional program strategy.
4. Stakeholder Relationships: Establish, nurture, and maintain relationships with stakeholders (superintendents, school district administrators, non-profit directors, government leaders, Ampact leaders, funders, legislators, alumni etc.) to grow and develop programs. Communicate effectively with various stakeholders and through a variety of means regarding the value, model, and outcomes of Ampact programs. Regularly communicate with leadership regarding funding opportunities and respond quickly and effectively to requests related to funding and legislative reports and site visits.
Minimum Education
Minimum Experience
4+ years of progressive, relevant experience in management, preferably at a non-profit or AmeriCorps program. Strong preference for management experience in a matrix management environment.
Proven ability to supervise, mentor and lead by example to inspire top performance.
Demonstrated leadership skills, characterized by the ability to gain respect, delegate tasks, manage workloads, and positively influence others. Ability to structure tasks, establish priorities and set and manage employee performance.
Self-directed with demonstrated passion for Ampact’s mission and commitment to achieving the strategic initiatives as directed by Ampact.
Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.

Experience working in the public health field (preferred)

Strong computer skills, including MS Office to include Excel and database applications. Ability to utilize video conferencing effectively.
