PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the Head of Finance and Operations, you will be part of the core finance team responsible for providing day to day financial accounting duties including cash handling and management, weekly supplier payments and reconciliations and performing month-end accounts. You will also be responsible for institutional audits and management of the financial accounting systems. You will provide high quality internal reporting within an accounting framework which fully complies with organisational financial policies and guidelines, statutory and sector standards.
KEY DUTIES
- Support the month-end financial processes, including cost allocations, depreciation journals, bank reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, and accruals, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Work closely with the Head of Finance and Operations to coordinate and ensure accurate quarterly revenue allocations across all funding streams.
- Ensure quarterly Lease Amortization entries are entered correctly on SAGE.
- Oversee cash flow and treasury functions, ensuring project teams have timely access to funds by collaborating with the Project Finance Assistant on cash advances and acquittal processes.
- Support to strengthen internal controls and ensuring compliance with ChildFund’s finance and procurement policies.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate project asset schedule including write-offs and disposals.
- Serve as the key finance focal point for internal and external audits, donor verifications, and institutional reviews.
- Support the day-to-day use of the financial accounting system (SAGE), including staff and supplier setup, troubleshooting, and training to ensure efficient and consistent use across teams.
- Maintain and regularly update supplier records, ensure timely reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable, and track supplier invoices with precision.
- Conduct procurement-related financial due diligence checks, including counter-terrorism screening and supplier vetting, to ensure responsible and ethical procurement practices.
- Ensure financial documentation, including payment vouchers, contracts, and supporting records are well-organized and easily accessible
- Facilitate finance-related training sessions for staff to build internal capacity and uphold accountability.
- Maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers, banking institutions, and partners to ensure smooth financial transactions and collaboration.
- Provide responsive, solution-oriented support to program and operations staff across all financial matters.
- Actively promote and integrate gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) principles into daily financial operations and team culture

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial accounting, grant management, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software, with strong knowledge of systems such as Sage Intacct or SUN Systems**.**
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated high standards of professional ethics, including punctuality, accountability, respect for others, and a willingness to collaborate and share information.

Experience working in international NGOs, UN agencies, or in cross-cultural environments.
