SWCA Environmental Consultants is hiring a
SWCA is actively seeking to fill an intermediate to senior level Environmental Planner position to help grow and expand our environmental planning and HRS 343 services within the Hawaiian Islands. This position is a career growth opportunity to join SWCA’s expanding Pacific Islands Office, with increasing levels of responsibility. The role is a regular, full-time salaried position, reporting to the office director in Honolulu, but can be located anywhere in the Hawaiian Islands. The qualified Environmental Planner would support a wide variety of projects in the Hawaiian Islands, and help grow the office’s environmental planning practice.
You will manage complex projects from pursuit, capture, and initiation, through implementation in collaboration with the local and regional natural resources team, and contribute to business development. This position has great opportunity for growth, as it will directly contribute to growing our practice in the Hawaiian Islands. This position is ideal for an experienced and ambitious individual who is looking to advance their career as an environmental planner through growing an environmental planning practice within a multi-disciplinary team.
You will:
Environmental Planning; HEPA/NEPA
Business Development:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in urban planning, environmental science, or a related field.
At least three (2) years of experience with a public planning agency, an environmental consulting firm, or comparable experience, is preferred.
Working knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental laws and regulations required.
Excellent organizational, oral, written, and analytical skills are required.
Applicant must be able to work in a team environment, with strong multi- tasking skills and able to work on more than one project at a time, meeting tight deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to perform under high-pressure with schedule constraints.
Ability to be flexible and willing to improve writing and analysis approaches Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Knowledge of GIS programs desirable.
Active member in professional groups or associations.
Deep, existing client relationships in the Hawaiian Islands, and the capacity to develop client relationships and seek out new opportunities.
The motivation and drive to identify, win and secure work.
