Like all roles within our organization, this position is remote, reflecting our US-based yet fully global and home-based structure. Candidates must be available to work across the United States, European and Malaysian time zones. Your key colleague will be mainly based in Malaysia.
Job Summary
Trackit is Textile Exchange’s traceability program designed to track third-party certified materials across the supply chain. The Senior Data Analyst will leverage their advanced SQL and Power BI expertise to query, extract, transform, model, and aggregate data from the Digital Trackit (dTrackit) and Electronic Trackit (eTrackit) platforms. This role will involve delivering key metrics and impactful data visualizations to support data-driven decision-making. The analyst will play a critical role in developing and implementing robust verification and reconciliation processes to continuously improve Trackit data quality, focusing on completeness, accuracy, consistency, validity, uniqueness and integrity.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL and Power BI, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and a detail-oriented, proactive approach. Success in this role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, adaptability in a dynamic environment, and a passion for leveraging data to enhance sustainability and supply chain transparency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Extraction: Design and implement efficient SQL queries on large (million+ rows) datasets related to certification. These queries will require multiple joins, CTEs/subqueries, aggregations, and data transformations.
Data Analytics: Uncover actionable insights from data to drive process improvements and enhance business outcomes. Translate business needs into technical solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. Proactively identify and resolve issues by diagnosing root causes, troubleshooting, and applying practical solutions, while ensuring data quality, and attention to detail across various tools and platforms.
Reporting & Visualization: Develop, implement, debug and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI to effectively communicate key metrics and trends to stakeholders.
Data Validation and Reconciliation: Conduct rigorous data checks and reconciliations to identify and act on anomalies, inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and errors in datasets. Ensure adherence to standardized definitions and logic for data and metrics to maintain high standards of data accuracy and timeliness.
Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs, align data projects with organizational goals, resolve data issues and improve data completeness and accuracy. Streamline processes to ensure analytical solutions are scalable, repeatable and sustainable to meet stakeholder expectations.
Continuous improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance data models, logic, and reporting processes to improve data management and integrity. Support the ongoing evolution of systems and tools for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Ad-Hoc Projects: Assist with ad-hoc projects and tool development as needed.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a reputable university in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
Experience: At least 5 years working experience in a data intensive environment, with a focus on data extraction, analysis, modelling, visualization and statistical analysis.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong experience in data analysis, with a deep understanding of statistical methods, data manipulation, and trend identification.
SQL Expertise: Strong proficiency in SQL to extract required data from Azure data platform to perform data segmentation and aggregation in preparation for data analysis and visualization.
Data Visualization: Expertise in creating visualizations and dashboards using Power BI. Experience with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query for data modeling.
Intermediate competency in Excel.
Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Synapse, VBA and Python skills is a plus.
Experience with certification, supply chain, sustainability, or related industries is a plus.
Able to quickly learn new systems and work independently in a virtual workplace.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated and strong work ethic.
Comfortable adapting to changes in a fast-paced remote environment.
Well-organized and able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet strict deadlines as needed.
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Preferred time-zone: Ability to work core hours from 4pm – 8pm US Pacific Standard Time daily. Flexible working hours a must due to differences in international time zones.
