Local Unit & Position Description

DNV’s Markets & Transactions section seeks a Senior Consultant experienced in power price forecasting for Colombia and/or other Latin American markets. DNV is undergoing a substantial expansion in power price forecasting throughout Latin America and is looking to reinforce its current team covering Colombia. The candidate will be integrated into a dynamic team with a clear mandate to grow in market coverage and scope of work.

DNV’s power price forecasting activity is structured around internal processes and tools that combine a fundamental approach (dispatch models) with statistical and artificial intelligence methods to understand and replicate the market agents’ interaction with the different power and ancillary services markets.

We seek an experienced Engineer (Spanish speaker) with a keen interest in Energy and experience in software, and knowledge in programming languages (Python, VBA), and SQL is mandatory.

The position will be based in Mexico City.

What You'll Do

  • The Senior Consultant is expected to cover Colombian Electricity Price Modelling:
    • Markets trends (expansion plan, commodities)
    • Scenario analysis (climate, electric vehicle, distributed, and self-consumption)
    • Medium- and long-term forecast
    • Webservice feeding
  • Refinement of the tools and models to reach excellence in long-term power price forecasting
  • Market Intelligence: big data, data mining, energy markets analysis, weekly reporting
  • Interaction with other LATAM and European teams
  • Interaction with consulting teams in order to ensure the perfect delivery of consulting projects
    • Market analysis (quantitative and regulatory)
    • Market price forecasts (Wholesale, Capacity, Stabilized price, Ancillary Services)
    • Revenue analysis associated risks
    • Any other tailormade analysis
  • Interaction with clients before, during, and after consulting projects

Position Qualifications

What is Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering with deep knowledge or experience in the Colombian energy sector
  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years experience in the industry
  • Knowledge of electricity market modelling tools (preferably PLEXOS or similar)
  • Experience in programming languages (Python or similar)
  • Experience in interacting with SQL Databases
  • Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English; French is a plus
