Principal Functions and Purpose of the position:
Hong Kong is a globally significant hub for seafood consumption and trade; developing the sustainability of seafood markets here is a critical strategy for marine conservation and food security on a global scale. WWF-Hong Kong has an internationally recognized sustainable seafood programme, and is currently recruiting a core member to the team.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and strengthen the business engagement strategies with hotels, restaurants, and retailers on seafood sustainability, including as appropriate, training on seafood guides and providing seafood sustainability advice to these stakeholders. Establish and maintain contacts and networks with external stakeholders relevant to the Initiative;
- Contribute to, or lead engagement efforts with private sector stakeholders.
- Undertake assessments of the sustainability of relevant seafood products, using established procedures.
- Research and synthesise information on seafood sustainability and traceability globally. Keep reasonably up-to- date with the market trend in Hong Kong and globally, and identify timely adjustments in the plan of the Initiative if required.
- Develop public awareness campaign, including but not limited to organising talks and events, and producing promotion material, to increase the uptake of sustainable seafood in Hong Kong.
- Assist other sections and departments in the implementation of work related to WWF-Hong Kong Seafood Choice Initiative and as necessary, other conservation projects;
- Carry out any other duties that are assigned to you.
Also, where required:
- Connect and keep up-to-date with trends in supply, catering and retail markets in Hong Kong, and identify timely adjustments to the Programme
- Contribute to the overall strategies and operational plan for WWF-Hong Kong’s Sustainable Seafood Programme
- Participate in promotional activities with relevant stakeholders
Required Functional Skills:
- Degree in Marketing, Business, Social Sciences, or other relevant areas relating to conservation and sustainability, especially food sustainability, or environmental footprint.
- 3 years or more relevant working experience in private sector; experience in F&B industry, sustainability fields, or hospitality field is an advantage.
- Experience in independent project management is preferred.
- Research skills in relevant field desirable.
- Familiarity with the Hong Kong context for marine conservation, food sustainability or trade also is important.
- Analytical thinking skills needed.
- Candidate needs to be assertive with high quality persuasion and influencing skills.
- Solid command of both written and spoken English and Cantonese.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other relevant office-related technologies.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with new contacts.

- Exceptional team and collaboration skills, ability to develop partnerships for common goals, within the team, internally and externally, and foster a cooperative work environment.

- Ability to work independently and also a resourceful, motivated team player able to work in collaborative work environment
