The Senior Center Assistant will be an integral part of the Center team working closely with Center Director and program leads to support visitor services, volunteer program, and conservation and education programs.
This is a part-time position.
• Serve as Center lead for front desk and visitor services, troubleshoot issues, train volunteers and staff on front desk services, schedule staff weekend assistants, and schedule front desk volunteers to help cover front desk during the week and on weekends.
• Cover front desk as needed and help keep the Center presentable and welcoming to visitors.
• Assist Education Team with summer camp registrations using Camp Doc software.
• Assist with administrative tasks including but not limited to processing donations, monthly earned income reports, invoices, receipts, and tracking small inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, maintaining, and promoting the Center’s Nature Store.
• Assist program staff in promoting activities, programs, and events using Every Action event software and/or similar software.
• Assist program leads in developing and implementing volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and appreciation & recognition, and keeping volunteer contact list updated.
• Support set up and take down of programs and events.
• Support program staff in tracking and entering program data for assessment and evaluation.
• Support Center Director in coordinating visitor surveys to collect demographic and other info to help us improve our programs and services.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
• Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 1-2 years demonstrated program support experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and a can-do attitude are essential.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
• Proven ability to track and advance tasks and projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and be a valuable team player on a small team.
• Critical thinking skills and a problem-solving attitude.
• Experience coordinating, training and supervising volunteers and knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to volunteerism a plus.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Every Action event management and Camp Doc software or similar products a plus.
• Desire to work with diverse communities not typically engaged in conservation efforts.
• Experience and familiarity with the natural history, outdoor education, and conservation a plus.
• Willing and able to occasionally work outside of the normal work schedule.
• A strong commitment to the mission, values, and programs of the Audubon Center at Riverlands and the National Audubon Society.
