ABOUT THE ROLE
The overall goal of the Senior Business Sales Associate, Renewable Energy and Climate is to contribute to ongoing business development efforts and support Business Directors and Managers in developing senior-level relationships with enterprise-class companies. These efforts will help close business focused on renewable energy certificates (RECs), carbon offsets, decarbonization, renewable energy procurement, and GHG reduction advisory services in order to deliver on an aggressive quarterly and annual sales plan.
Day-to-day responsibilities include building the pipeline of partners, communicating with clients, and collaborating with the commercial teams to ensure world-class performance for sales and delivery. You will attend conferences, engage prospects, build strategic business partnering cases/presentations, write proposals, support negotiations and close new clients.
In order to achieve these goals you will demonstrate or develop proficiency in Salesforce data management, RFP coordination, contracting, and holistic mastery of our internal sales tools and processes. The tasks will be applied in support of the Senior Director, Business Partnership and Business Development Manager you work with directly, as well as to drive success in cultivating and closing new accounts you are assigned. Senior BPAs are expected to proactively mentor and train new members of the team, and play a lead role on special projects that improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
This position will be focused on the European market and is open to candidates residing within commutable distance of our Norway, Netherlands and or United Kingdom offices. Exceptional candidates based remotely elsewhere such as Hungary, Italy, or Spain may also be considered. 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship and/or relocation assistance for any of our roles, therefore you must have a pre-existing right to work status or full work visa in your intended country of residence to be considered for this position.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Support Senior Director, Business Partnerships and/or Business Development Manager on the Renewable Energy & Climate team in reaching a territory goal. This includes, but is not limited to:
Extensive account research to develop territory and account strategy
Qualify inbound prospects and generate leads through direct prospect outreach efforts via
email, phone, and management of specific outreach and networking efforts
Create custom slide decks and business case presentations for prospective clients
Attend & run efficient prospect meetings over video and in-person (when possible)
Identify, test, and build 3Degrees’ champions within client and prospect organizations Write,
edit, and finalize proposals and responses to RFPs
Leverage extensive knowledge of 3Degrees commercial product offerings to conduct cursory
discovery with appropriate clients to determine possible expansion opportunities
Serve as account manager for select clients attend and represent 3Degrees at conferences/events
Curate market insights across the renewable energy and carbon industries, 3Degrees' competitors,
new product offerings and pricing through 3Degrees staff, industry publications, webinars, etc.
Proactively contribute to continuous improvement, providing input on 3Degrees products, marketing
strategies, sales improvements and team collaboration
Serve as a trainer and mentor to other members of the BDA team. This includes delivery of formal
onboarding sessions for new BDA hires as well as ongoing mentorship of newer BDA team members
Identify new project opportunities and process improvements related to the BDA team/function, and
play a lead role in managing and guiding these projects to successful completion
ABOUT YOU
You are a confident and highly motivated individual with a passion for assisting clients with carbon reduction and/or renewable energy goals. You are resourceful, strategic and proactive in your approach to problem-solving, and exceptionally organized. You have a track record of demonstrated professional success in sales or business Development-related efforts, as well as knowledge in one or more of the following areas: EACs, carbon offsets, climate consulting, renewable energy. Successful candidates bring the following skills and experience:
Renewable energy, carbon offset, and/or sustainability experience preferred
Understanding of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and associated global standards and protocols
such as GRI, SBTi’s, Net Zero, and others
Strong understanding of Energy Attribute Certificates and/or Carbon Offsets, Power Purchase
Agreements (PPAs) and consulting services related to climate mitigation
Minimum of 2 years of related industry experience and 1-2 years of B2B sales or business development
experience selling to large commercial accounts
A desire and passion to assist commercial clients in tackling climate change and supporting their efforts
to rapidly decarbonize business operations
Ability to develop strong customer relationships
Proven analytical and research skills
Experience with B2B sales models preferably in both domestic and internationally based markets
Previous training on value-based selling techniques preferred
Proven ability to train and mentor other team members
BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of professional experience and education

Within 30 days,
You will complete the first month of our onboarding program, gaining a foundational understanding
of 3Degrees’ company, commercial business structure, products, and services
Execute day-to-day operational tasks proficiently to enhance team efficiency
Within 90 days,
Acquire in-depth knowledge of 3Degree’s products, services, sales structure, and tools (Salesforce,
Groove, Google Drive, etc.).
Completed the entire onboarding program, demonstrating a comprehensive grasp of in-depth departmental
knowledge.
Contribute actively to existing account management, displaying adaptability and readiness.
Established as a key support to the Senior Business Partnership Director in operational administrative
tasks.
Developed a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders such as Sales Operations, Marketing, ECP
and US Business Partnership team.
Within 6 months,
You will be proficient in the key repeatable tasks of the role, able to independently manage the following
tasks for standard deals: prospect identification, discovery/qualification, early champion cultivation,
proposal creation, and all related salesforce tracking
You will have developed a comprehensive outreach strategy and successfully managed your first corporate
client meetings, building a pipeline of key contacts to grow and develop the business
Within 1 year,
You will have expanded your competencies to encompass client business case creation and delivery,
as well as contract creation/negotiation.
You will have mastered all basic tasks necessary to initiate, run and complete a sales cycle
You will be independently leading select new client sales cycles from start to finish.
You will be providing key input on 3Degrees commercial strategy as it evolves beyond 2024

Supplemental Pay: This position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs, including the company’s profit-sharing program
