Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work to reduce and prevent violence, protect civilians and build peace together with communities in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath through the implementation of unarmed civilian protection programming. NP implements programming through the deployment of civilian protection teams to the field and is continuing to scale up to meet the growing needs in the communities we serve. Programming is founded on Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP) and is thematically focused on, interrupting cycles of violence, building trust and peaceful co-existence among divided communities and women inclusion and participation.

JOB PURPOSE

To protect property and personnel, while also participating in team meetings concerning security and general context updates. All NP staff are expected to embody UCP guiding principles of:

KEY OBJECTIVES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Commitment to NP principles

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Nonviolent Peaceforce's (NP) mandate and
  • Maintain a positive image of the organization both during and outside of scheduled
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming attitude to all members of the community

Protection and security

  • Provide unarmed protection and security for NP teams and NP
  • Monitor the security situation in the
  • Assist the Team leader in responding to any security or safety incident, such as fire, environmental damage, attacks, external
  • Ensure all visitors to the NP premises are
  • Ensure NP vehicles remain

Safeguarding**:**

  • Outline the responsibilities related to safeguarding, including adherence to NP’s safeguarding policies and procedures, and reporting any concerns regarding the safety and well-being of personnel, beneficiaries, or community members.

Basic First Aid Knowledge:

  • The guard should have basic knowledge of first aid to handle any minor injuries or health issues that may arise during their duties.

  • Basic understanding of English is desirable, but not required.
