The Role: The Territory Manager is responsible for all customer-facing activities, including management of 3rd party manufacturer’s representatives, for the assigned territories; ensuring exemplary customer service and responsiveness to achieve the required sales targets and budgets for the sale of company products – specifically biological treatment in the wastewater municipal and industrial segments.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide superior support to, and manage, independent Manufacturer's Representatives to enable them to successfully be specified and sell the company products in their assigned territory.
- Provide superior support and responsiveness to all customers (consulting engineers, contractors, end-users)
- Manage territory and team members to achieve company goals for Sales Volume, Margin, Profitability and Growth of project funnel including monthly, yearly forecasting using Salesforce.com
- Proficiently apply company products and processes to best serve the needs of our customers while complying with Corporate, Professional and Industry standards
- Maintain awareness of Market Drivers, Competition and potential Sales Activity to provide knowledgeable and accurate information to company management and marketing
- Foster a team approach within the Sales Department and Company to ensure the free flow of information, active mentoring, enthusiasm and growth of all individuals
- Provide support to others throughout the company as required to ensure that the customer's needs are met and that projects are completed in the most cost effective and efficient manner while maintaining a high level of quality for both our products and services
- Attend industry related trade shows, conferences, and technical seminars (occasionally presenting relevant presentations/papers)
- Other duties as may be assigned as needed including special projects to help improve processes or tools for the sales group or key account management
- Follow and comply with all ESH&S policies.
- Support cross-Treatment training and development opportunities
- Provide and/or receive mentorship for other Treatment and Xylem team members
- Participate in local water-treatment efforts / organizations
- Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or related B.S. degree in engineering/environmental studies)
- 5+ years of commercial sales, engineering, or related experience in the Water and Wastewater Industry is required. Strong emphasis on Treatment applications and process engineering.
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles in the area of drinking water and wastewater treatment.
- Demonstrate proficient problem solving techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications in the development of project tenders, designs, cost estimates, and proposals.
- Superior customer service, interpersonal, effective communicator and influential is required. Ability to facilitate a presentation and technical aptitude of the product/process.
- Possess ability to complete tasks and resolve difficult technical issues with minimum oversight.
- Ability to prioritize, focus, and complete most critical tasks while handling multiple assignments with shifting priorities.
- Ability to network effectively within organization to get things done
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and CRM software
- Be a self-starter with high motivation to achieve corporate and personal goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with a drive to identify and implement business process efficiency improvements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Green Belt Certification
- Salesforce software
- Prior experience engaging in the bidding/tendering process is preferable

- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasional exposure to shop and field elements (Wastewater and Drinking Water Treatment Plants)
- Must occasionally lift/ transport up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to safely work around pipes, valves, electrical equipment and operating machinery, such as commonly found around construction sites and treatment plants.
- Office: Florescent lighting, dust, recycled air, cooling fans, semi-enclosed areas, central heating, seasonal warmer temperatures and office noise
- Exposure to undesirable field elements at treatment plants or contractor sites.
- Travel: 50%

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000 to $105,000 plus bonus. At Xylem, it is not typical for an individual to start at the top end of the range for the role however compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. We offer a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
