Local Unit & Position Description
DNV – Energy Systems Energy Management group is seeking a Sales Manager to join our DTE Energy team, to lead the programs DNV implements for Consumers Energy. The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced leader in energy efficiency programs.
This position will be based out of our DNV office in Detroit, Michigan.
What You’ll Do
- Promote and sell the business energy efficiency programs by identifying and managing opportunities in targeted industries and geographies and nurturing a sales team to reach sales targets
- Successfully and professionally manage the customer engagement and recruitment process and sales (outreach) team in accordance with company systems and policies
- Provide energy efficiency project forecasting and planning in an effective manner by:
- Consistently building and delivering an accurate opportunity pipeline, tracked by a CRM
- Assisting with executing short and long-range customer recruitment and marketing plans
- Develop and mentor the sales team and actively collaborate and share customer intelligence and opportunities
- Maintain and promote established relationships with industry and solution partners to maximize energy efficiency project implementation and sustain a leading position in the market
- Gather intelligence and have a clear and comprehension of the client's business issues and challenges
- Use the CRM tool to manage and record all stages of the energy efficiency project implementation cycle
- Use a proprietary predictive analytic tool to research areas of opportunity to grow sales
- Participate in global sales team gatherings and sales initiatives
- Actively engage with the sales team and other colleagues, sharing knowledge and ideas in support of innovation and customer success
- Other sales and business development activities as required, in support of program strategies and goals
Position Qualifications
What is Required
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years’ experience in a related field required
- Strong public-speaking and presentation skills to a variety of audience sizes
- Solid problem-solving capabilities
- Creativity and attention to detail
- Explain technical information for non-technical audiences
- Team player with positive attitude and ability to work effectively with different teams
- Proven track record of translating technical messages for diverse audiences
- Willingness and able to travel up to 50% of the time (mostly locally in the Metro Detroit area, infrequent overnights)
- Reliable transportation required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be able to meet the requirements to drive for company business
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Pre-employment drug and background screening
What is Preferred
- Solid technical operations familiarity with the electric and/or gas utility industry and a good overall understanding of the energy industry, trends and products is a plus
- Sales experience is a plus
- Experience with energy efficiency or energy efficient products desired
