Summary of Role:
The Regional IT Manager – Africa is a senior role within the company with overall responsibility for delivery of Information Solutions (IS application/systems), Cyber Security (CS), and Information Technology (IT) in the Africa region consistent with global integration, and inputting to the global strategy, design, and delivery.
The role requires strategic vision, technical leadership, and will ensure regional involvement in Mainstream’s digital ambition initiatives. The role will have a double reporting: local and the corporate office in Dublin that defines the overall strategy. The role holder will ensure a professional and positive image of the global IS team through great service delivery and strong stakeholder engagement.
What will you do?
- Day-to-day management of the local IS/CS/IT team, including performance management and supporting the mentoring and training of team members.
- Manage the regional IT budget and vendors to ensure cost effectiveness.
- IT service delivery and infrastructure: Ensure the smooth running of regional IT operations, including global and regional user support, regional IT and network infrastructure, and cloud services within an ISO 20000 framework. From analysis of case trends, identify and implement IT improvement projects to ensure increased customer satisfaction.
- Cybersecurity: Support the day-to-day cybersecurity activities within an ISO 27001 framework. Ensure IT availability and resilience measures are in place.
- Provide regional reporting on IS/CS/IT KPIs/KRAs, and be the regional point of escalation
- Participation in strategy development, IS Governance, change management, and risk management processes bringing a regional perspective to discussions.
- OT infrastructure: Integration with the OT Systems Manager in supporting the specification and sourcing of IT/CS infrastructure to support operational sites, ensure arrangements are put in place for the day-to-day support of this infrastructure within the standards set by IT/CS/OT globally.
- Support IS, cybersecurity, and IT projects: Organise consultancy for new project ideas leading to project charters that you will project manage in coordination with the Agile PMO
- Collaborate with corporate Data Protection committee to establish and maintain a system for ensuring that information security and privacy policies are adhered to and designed to prevent personal data breaches.
What we require?
- A relevant 3rd level qualification in Engineering or IT, or equivalent industry experience/qualification.
- Proven experience in planning, organizing, managing, and developing an IT function.
- Experience in planning and executing security strategies and standards development.
- Fluent in English.
- Excellent knowledge of technology environments, especially information security, cloud technologies, AI, digitalisation programmes and automation technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to apply IS and IT in solving business problems.
- Extensive knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and a good understanding of renewable energy development, construction, and operations.
- Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
- Excellent understanding of project management principles.
- Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards as they relate to IT (e.g., data protection).
- Proven leadership ability and excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- A positive “can-do” attitude with a bias for action and an ability to motivate/enthuse others.
