Summary of Role:
Reporting directly to the Group COO and indirectly to the COO South Africa, the key deliverables of the role is sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services for renewable energy projects.
The Corporate Procurement Manager role will provide the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper procurement controls, processes and procedures in place to effectively deliver Mainstream’s projects in the regions where Mainstream operate including South Africa.
What you will do:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to support renewable energy projects
- Manage procurement function and staff
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships on a global basis
- Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements
- Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services
- Monitor procurement activities, including purchase orders and delivery schedules
- Stay updated on market trends and emerging technologies in the renewable energy industry
- Manage supplier performance and address any issues or concerns
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
- Negotiating supplier contracts for projects across regions where Mainstream operate
- Managing supplier relationships
- Monitoring changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, and international price trends to determine a fair buying price
- Analyzing market trends and developing effective sourcing plans
- Provide strategic input on operational procurement
What we require:
- Degree in Engineering, Energy, Business or Environment.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the renewable energy industry
- Very strong negotiation and communication skills
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and industry trends
- Experience in managing supplier relationships and performance
- Procurement and contracts management
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the renewable energy industry
- Knowledge of BBEEE
