Background
ChildFund Sport for Development partners with organisations to provide children and young people with opportunities to play, learn, and lead.
Through integrated sport and life skills learning, young people from vulnerable communities are equipped to overcome challenges, inspire positive social change, and take active leadership roles within their communities.
All partnerships contribute to building an equitable and inclusive future, where children are safe from violence — reflecting targets within the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
ChildFund Sport for Development is led by ChildFund Australia, an independent international development organisation that works to reduce poverty for children in developing communities and a member of the ChildFund Alliance - a global network of 12 organisations which assists almost 23 million children and their families in 70 countries.
The following needs have been identified to provide quality delivery for the sport aspect of sport for development:
a. Training and Curriculum Design and Support;
b. ChildFund Rugby Educator Support (remote and in person);
c. Coach support to build technical knowledge.
Position Expectations
- Can demonstrate an in-depth understanding of rugby principles of play and methodologies;
- Can design activities to support learning objectives with supporting facilitation guides;
- Can facilitate outcome-based learning opportunities for ChildFund Rugby educators and coaches in line with facilitation guides, curriculum content and methodologies;
- Can observe and assess Childfund Rugby Educators and Coaches to ensure a high quality of rugby delivery.
Key Expectations
Curriculum Support
- Design curriculum activities to support Childfund Rugby Educator and Coach development;
- Create facilitation guides to support delivery of activities.
Training of Educators
- Attend all training blocks provide support to Childfund Rugby Educators/Coaches;
- Use curriculum tools efficiently to deliver high quality trainings;
- Complete Childfund Rugby Educator Assessments for all Educators at training;
- Deliver feedback to encourage Childfund Rugby Educator self-reflection for improvement in future trainings.
Coach Training/Workshop Support
- Support Childfund Rugby Educators to be well prepared and demonstrate and understanding of key training concepts;
- Play a lead role in preparing and delivering Coach Training/Workshop activities;
- Ensure Childfund Rugby Educators are able to provide quality feedback to Coaches;
- Ensure Childfund Rugby Educators are able to deliver strong Coach Assessments.
Post Training/Workshop
- Provide post training reports with a summary of observations for Educators, Coaches and the overall training;
- Provide a summary of any actions for follow-up for additional Childfund Rugby Educator and Coach support.
Required Competencies/ Experience/ Qualifications
Core Competencies
- Holds an active World Rugby Educator/Trainer accreditation;
- Demonstrated facilitation skills;
- Experience working with young adults;
- Explicit willingness to challenge gender stereotypes through sport;
- Commitment to demonstrating rugby’s values;
- Flexible and adaptable;
- Ability to ask for clarification or explanation when faced with challenges.
Desired Competencies
- Fluency in additional languages including Khmer, Lao, Vietnamese, Tagalog an advantage;
- Experience with play-based education;
- Experience in other strands of rugby including officiating, S&C, First Aid a bonus.

- Adherence to ChildFund Rugby’s Code of Conduct;
- Adherence to safeguarding policies and training rules;

Location: Remote, with possible travel as agreed
Employment: 1 year contract for services on an as-needed basis
