Dillon’s Environmental Sciences technical group is looking for a Junior to Intermediate Risk Professionals to join our multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Our team is seeking a junior to intermediate professionals to join our ranks. Work with an industry leading innovative team on projects ranging from analyzing and developing methodologies for freight rail risks and transportation of dangerous goods, to identifying and assessing marine safety risks across Canada’s coasts and more. Our risk team works on cutting edge projects for a variety of government and private sector clients. Working on this team will provide endless career development opportunities including opportunities to write technical papers and present at conferences, work on award winning projects, help our clients reach their sustainability goals and develop a unique and highly sought after skillset.

This position is available at our Richmond, Calgary, Ontario offices, or any of our offices in Atlantic Canada.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Risk Project Work (94%)

  1. Contribute to risk projects including research, report writing, fieldwork, as well as stakeholder, rights holder and regulatory consultations
  2. Work with and support intermediate and senior Risk Analysts in carrying out risk analysis, risk reviews, developing innovative risk assessment methodologies, and various aspects of risk projects
  3. Participate in technical workshops, stakeholder engagement sessions and work to develop facilitation and presentation skills
  4. Collaborate with technical and professional staff from across the company and sub consultants to complete various assignments
  5. Assist with the compilation and analysis of complex data from various sources (including databases and spreadsheets), in an effort to decipher and understand the data and then present it in a clear and easy to comprehend format.
  6. Assist with developing various metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures as well as assist with developing risk mitigation measures.
  7. Assist in report writing and prepare technical memos, letters, reports and proposals
  8. Ensure professionalism and personal accountability for time management, quality control, troubleshooting of project work, as well as meeting timelines and budget

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  1. A degree or technical college certificate/diploma in geology, civil or environmental engineering, hydrogeology, or another relevant environmental science, social science, or engineering discipline or equivalent in IT, Business, Planning, or Finance
  2. Minimum of entry level to 7 years’ of experience in risk management, data analysis, research, or environmental consulting
  3. CRM or other risk designation considered an asset Including knowledge of applicable risk management theories and standards (ISO 31000 or equivalent), principles and practice preferred.
  4. Valid Driver’s License
  5. Bilingual in French (working level) considered an asset

Experience

  1. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  2. Strong organizational skills
  3. Strong technical writing skills
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
  5. Data compilation, interpretation and report writing
  6. Knowledge in several of the following disciplines: program management; project controls environment; risk management theory, principles and practice will be considered an asset
  7. Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  8. MS Excel (VBA macros) experience, MS Access, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, SharePoint and Software Development experience preferred
