RESEARCHER, SUSTAINABLE FINANCE, BRUSSELS (INTERNAL)

This post based in E3G’s Brussels office will contribute to E3G’s work to ensure that European policies for sustainable finance support a resilient, fair, and inclusive climate transition and are replicated internationally.​

Key Responsibilities

  • Tracking policy developments, interpreting them in the context of E3G’s work, and communicating them to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Delivery of research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, to support a portfolio of projects on sustainable finance.
  • Developing and presenting policy recommendations to decision-makers;
  • Identifying and engaging with a range of external stakeholders with diverging points of view to understand and engage with their perspectives and communicate your ideas and findings to a varied audience.
  • Organising and participating in stakeholder discussions;
  • Supporting advocacy activities to influence policy and political decisions;
  • Producing internal and external communications materials and undertaking short pieces of wider analysis;
  • Working collaboratively and proactively with other E3G programmes on cross-cutting themes and outputs.

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (required) and post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable);
  • Experience of working on EU sustainable finance topics and specific regulations (CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, CSDDD, CRR/CRD and Solvency 2) would be an advantage.
  • A track record of problem solving and research including quantitative analysis, an ability to quickly familiarise yourself with a new topic through self-led research including conversations with experts, assessing legislation or policy statements, and analysis of data sources.
  • A good working understanding of the implications of the low carbon transition on the finance sector and of the role of finance in sustainable development. Specific knowledge of past and current European sustainable finance policy developments, as this will be the primary focus of this role.
  • Knowledge of the EU policymaking process and political landscape. Experience and network within EU institutions and/or EU member states is an advantage.
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and be positive, organised, stress-resilient and able to deliver high quality work on time.
  • Attention to detail combined with the ability to work effectively to support shared team outcomes.
  • Very strong English written and verbal communication skills. A good working knowledge of at least one major language besides English would be an advantage.

Further details

This role is offered on a 1-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of further extension.  This role is located in Brussels. E3G ASBL operates a flexible hybrid working approach.

E3G will require candidates to demonstrate that they have the right to live and work in the jurisdiction in which E3G employs them. E3G is unable to provide relocation assistance or visa support.

A remuneration package competitive with the non-profit sector will be offered depending on experience. Benefits include additional paid leave; travel and hospitalisation insurance; additional pension contributions; mobile phone contract.
