Research Associate

The Social Impact team’s main function is to monitor and assess the impact of Proximity’s products and services on farmers' livelihood through research activities.

As a Research Associate, you will support the team by conducting quantitative and qualitative research focused on the economic and social impact of our products and services. This position is perfect for a young Myanmar researcher willing to work in the field of rural development and the agricultural sector. Once You’re Here, You Will:

• Collaborate with senior research associates in designing research methodology and preparing research tools (questionnaires, sample size, etc)
• Data Analysis: The research associate will be responsible for data cleaning and analysis using Excel sheets to measure Proximity’s economic and social impact on farmers livelihood. She/He will also be in charge of presenting the research findings through Powerpoint presentations.
• Data Collection: The research associate will conduct interviews through phone calls or field-visits. This position requires regular field trips; the candidate must be able and willing to travel.

Must Haves:

• University graduate preferably in the field of economics, agriculture or social sciences.
• 1 to 2+ years professional experience in the development or private sector, (ideally in monitoring/evaluation or  market research).
• Must have experience conducting research.
• Must be able to work in English.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Excel and G-suite will be an advantage.
• Passionate about helping rural farmers and improving their livelihoods.
• Ability to strike up a good conversation with rural farmers.
