Research & Impact Manager

Job Purpose

Salary: £51,318 + benefits

Location: National role, based working from home with occasional travel

We are currently recruiting for a Research & Impact Manager (Evaluation)

Reporting to the Insight & Evidence Team Manager, the Research & Impact Manager (Evaluation) will be responsible for a small professional team responsible for building the Trust’s credible, robust, transparent, comprehensive and compelling evidence base that proves and validates the difference we are making to individuals, communities and society as a whole.

The Research & Impact Manager will be the Trust’s primary expert in evaluation research, impact measurement and participatory research. As such, this role would suit a candidate with a strong background in evaluation methods and design.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead on the evaluation of anticipated outcomes from the Trust’s participatory programmes – designing and implementing mixed-method evaluation plans to assess delivery against these outcomes
  • Lead on the production of the Trust’s Impact Report and reports for funders such as the People’s Postcode Lottery Impact Report.
  • Lead on measurement of the Trust’s Outcomes Measurement Framework – develop and implement a robust programme, capturing social outcomes for participants, communities and other beneficiaries
  • Work in partnership with academic institutions – deliver innovative research aligned with the Trust’s strategic research aims.
  • Delivery of face-to-face surveys – working with the team‘s Insight Specialist to determine scope of towpath intercept and community surveys.
  • Day-to-day management of the Trust’s network of towpath use sensors and environmental sensors
  • Management of the Insight & Evidence team’s data structures and reporting tools
  • Line management of a small team of research specialists

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

We are looking for a an individual with a strong technical skillset, and are therefore require a Degree & post-graduate qualification preferably in a numerate subject, e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics etc.

Work Experience & skills

  • Considerable experience in impact evaluation and participatory research.
  • Proven ability to design and undertake impact evaluations using mixed-methods approaches.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying best practice data management and data analysis techniques
  • Ability to communicate results of complex analysis to lay audiences
  • Good time management and multi-tasking skills with ability to to remain calm and work to deadlines to provide timely analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience in survey design, including the use of survey software (e.g. SNAP, Survey Monkey, Qualtrics)
  • Supplier management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills
