ROLE OVERVIEW
This position report to the Vice President - GrainPro Africa. The Regional Manager (RM) will be charged with the development of new business opportunities within the region with the aim of achieving GrainPro business objectives as well as enhancing the company’s profitability and market share while advocating the company’s mission of helping reduce world hunger. The RM will have a thorough knowledge of GrainPro’s products and their functionality, therefore, being responsible for training customers on setup, and providing guidance and supervision to customers. The incumbent will have a close and comprehensive understanding of GrainPro’s strategy, objectives, and product offering as well as a good knowledge of the agriculture sectors in the region and associated trade processes.
Position Description
- Growth and Business Development
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the broad agriculture value chains in Africa and specifically in West African countries;
- Good knowledge of the end-to-end agriculture market in the West Africa region and associated trade processes with a specific bias towards Cocoa and Rice value chains;
- Ability to identify marketing strategies for the different agriculture market players with the potential need of company products;
- Lead business development initiatives in the region;
- Forge new and maintain existing relationships in the agriculture sector specifically the leading food and food commodity sub-sectors with the highest potential of adopting company products;
- Undertake a thorough SWOT analysis of the region’s agriculture market as well as strategies for enhancing the strengths and opportunities, converting weaknesses to strengths as well as mitigation measures for the threats;
- Ability to assess the potential of the assigned market leading to near realistic and well-informed sales targets with a strong supporting rationale;
- Ability to work with each potential customer toward identifying their annual drying, storage, and shipping needs which should then inform the sales projections;
- Country Representative (CR) Management
- Recruit and facilitate contracting of Country Representatives in the countries where GrainPro is not represented in WA;
- Liaise with the CR to come up with a realistic and achievable annual work plan, marketing plan, and sales projections;
- Periodical progress reports written jointly with the CR and data/information used for re-strategizing;
- Continuously re-evaluate GrainPro representation in the region to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of serving our customers.
- Finance
- Responsible for the overall financial and business growth as well as the profitability of the WA region;
- Annual financial targets setting for WA in collaboration with the regional team, Finance Director and VP;
- Stock/Inventory management.
- GrainPro Africa contribution
- Participate and contribute meaningfully to the overall success of GrainPro Africa through contribution in various ways.
- Take charge of GrainPro Africa marketing strategy rollout and implementation in the assigned region.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A degree in agricultural engineering, agribusiness, general management or sales and marketing.
- A minimum of +7 years’ experience managing teams and multiple countries profitably.
- Multiple Project Management experience is essential.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required, and a good command of French is essential.
- The position can be based out of any country in West Africa, but preferably Nigeria or Cote d’Ivoire with permission to work and live there.
- Strong ethical background and proven business development experience in related industries are a must.
- Managing teams and multiple countries profitably.
