The development of innovative and sustainable construction solutions, tackled in the innovation portfolio of Concrete & Aggregates, calls for new engineering skills. The Holcim Innovation Center is looking for talents able to implement sensor technologies at plant, in-transit and on-site, to provide automation and differentiation through a digital data driven customer centric approach and these digital solutions will greatly accelerate green growth.
The opportunity at a glance
Within the R&D teams of our Innovation Center, you will be working on material and constructive systems research projects, in a typical timeframe of 1 to 5 years before the solution is transferred to the market.
You will develop, share and communicate scientific knowledge and practical digital solutions on innovative sensors, tags, probes & new technologies and providing access to an abundance for robust, secure & reliable data and integrating AI/ML, predictive models and actively participate in Holcim innovation roadmap, with our operational units in the 70 countries Holcim is present, our academic partners as well as our start-up ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities
- Develop sensor based digital solutions and contribute to the development of collaboration platforms which link data, to enable real time efficient decision making
- Collaborate efficiently with the local operational Holcim units and process R&D engineers to evolve current practices through the use of sensor technology
- Collaborate efficiently with other internal R&D project team members (Rheology experts, numerical modeling experts, data scientists, material scientists, hardware providers, etc...)
- Along with our Concrete & Aggregate team, identify innovative avenues for differentiated digital services and sensor technologies (key partners, route to market,…)
- Clearly communicate results internally via scientific reports and updates
- Publish external scientific articles and trigger academic collaborations
- Leverage our open innovation network in relevant Proof of Concept (PoC) and use cases with start-ups and identify new talents in the start-up ecosystem
- Collaborate with Holcim business units across the globe and provide expert assistance / know-how during support or training missions and development phases of new sensor implementations

Education/Qualifications
- PhD/MSc/BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
Experience
- 5-10 years with a successful track record in innovation and sensor development in R&D and/or implementation in the field
- International background is a plus, with an experience abroad and in multi-cultural environments
Knowledge & Skills
- Technical skills: electronics, sensors, good understanding of construction value chain and of current construction and manufacturing practices and modeling, programing, AI/MLwould be a plus
- Soft skills: pragmatic, innovative problem solving capabilities, curiosity, team spirit, ability to quickly learn, result-oriented, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interface both with Holcim business units and academic network
Language Requirements
fluent English is mandatory, fluency in French would be a plus
