Overview / Responsibilities
Wood currently has an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Coordinator (Site) - Mechanical/Piping who will contribute to a dynamic mining project team by assisting with required scoping documentation, assembling walk-down packages, and compiling system turnover packages to meet tight deadlines. Our mining project is located in Northeastern Ontario, near Gogama and this is a "fly-in/fly-out", on a 14 x 14 (12 hr/day) rotation.
Responsibilities:
- Verify documentation and conduct inspections/examinations on incoming materials, sub-assemblies, and finished installations. When non-conformances arise from these activities; reports shall be developed documenting findings, corrective actions, and resolutions.
- Support/Coordinate with construction coordinators, Area managers, HSSE, Engineering, and Supply Chain personnel on material turnovers and construction installations.
- Attend construction and Quality witness and hold inspections, system, and custody transfer walk-downs
- Quality control of EPC construction, general contractor’s work including, but not limited to:
- Review and approval of quality related submittals.
- Updating of punch lists
- Follow-up on corrective action.
- Conduct field impromptu quality audits on construction activities as detailed in the Site Quality Audit Plan:
- NCR (Non-Conformance Report)
- CAR (Corrective Action Report)
- PAR (Preventive Action Report)
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis for NCRs
- Review supplier documentation and inspect parts for dimensional or other quality data conformance.
- Collect and review all quality records for accuracy and construction quality submittals
- Site orientation of quality requirements for all welder and welding foreman conducting Quality Audits on construction activities as detailed in the Site Quality Audit Plan.
- Monitor compliance of consumable material supply and storage.
- Input into final check-offs and acceptance requirements for turnover purposes.
- Research and identification of specifications, procedures, vendor and contractual information, site contractor, construction quality requirements (CCQR).
- Care, custody and control of areas and QA documentation to verify quality construction activities and installations.
- Provide support, “As built” drawing review and turnover for mechanical completion.
- Steward receipt and storage of materials and equipment as well as preservation and maintenance of same.
- Follow ISO 9001-2015 SOPs and make recommendations for improvement
- Report violations of ISO 9001 Standards to the Quality Manager
- Assist in the development of project ITP and control of documentation
- Support the Quality program in maintaining, updating, and driving the completion of corrective actions (CARs), quality surveillance (QSRs), and closing NCRs
- Support the construction quality program in the tracking of monthly quality metrics and KPIs
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ post-graduation experience
- Minimum of 2 years site experience in the mining industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Trade school or College Graduate in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering technology
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical documents (BOMS, Drawings, MTRs, P&ID’s and schematics)
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to efficiently evaluate and handle multiple assignments
- Must have proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel and experience using an ERP system
- CWB certification as inspector for structural installation is a plus.
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
