We are growing our team, and we are looking for an experienced Purchaser who will play a key role in selection and procurement functions directly associated with the needs for required components, specialized equipment, machinery, tools, materials and services to support business operations. In addition to sourcing and evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts and tracking orders and costs, this position will be responsible for leading supplier relationship development and promoting the most effective use of FuelPositive funds. This position will report to the COO. As we are a growing organization, the reporting structure will shift in the near future.
Who we are:
FuelPositive is a Canadian-based, clean technology company, working to fight climate change by creating and developing practical, clean, and sustainable carbon-free solutions that can be implemented economically now. Above all, we believe in being kind – to the earth, to each other, and to ourselves. We believe that being kind will pay dividends for us all. It’s all about Fuel for a Mindful World.
What we make:
Our lead product, an onsite, containerized Green Ammonia production system that is modular and scalable, will revolutionize clean energy through a patent-pending, first-of-its-kind technology invented in Canada. The system takes air, water and a sustainable electricity source to produce green anhydrous ammonia with no carbon emissions. Adoption will dramatically support global targets to reduce CO2 emissions. And our decentralized, in situ approach will bring supply chain independence to our first customers – farmers – for the first time.
If you want to make a Positive impact, be relevant and make a change, join our team and become a part of the solution!

You will work with management on pricing negotiation, placing/tracking/monitoring POs, and coordinating deliveries to site. You will take the lead and actively participate in the resolution of supplier issues and communicate changes to internal stakeholders. As an experienced Purchaser you will expedite problems with suppliers and vendors regarding costs, quality, quantity and delivery of goods purchased. Since we are a young company, you will have the opportunity to create and document process to control inventories, perform on-going review of product, service, equipment, and expense usage to identify new opportunities for cost savings by applying standard buying principles. You are familiar with developing and executing RFPs, contract management and vendor performance activities. These are some of the day-to-day activities, but there is more. Does this sound exciting? Then, keep reading.

You’ve seen our values, and they resonate with you. You are passionate about participating in creating solutions to climate change and have an understanding of the role our systems play in making a positive impact on the world’s fertilizer demands and food shortage issues. You have a post-secondary diploma or degree in purchasing or equivalent. Member of Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is considered an asset. You have at least 5+ years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment. You have hands-on knowledge of purchasing and material planning concepts, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings would be considered an asset. Additionally, you possess the ability to communicate clearly, whether it is with your colleagues, suppliers, clients or other stakeholders – talking to people and getting your message across in a positive and collaborative way is a strength of yours. You consider yourself a master negotiator who can easily negotiate term and delivery for the lowest total cost. While this position is based out of our Waterloo Office, travel may be required from time to time, so you should be able to move across Canada and to international locations as needed.
