Project Officer – Women Empowerment   (X 2)

Reports to: Project Manager, Women Empowerment

Job context

The Women Empowerment programme is currently implementing projects whose global objective is to promote women and youth voices and participation in Zimbabwe.   Under the programme, Hivos will support the capacity strengthening of women and youth leaders/ aspiring leaders and CSOs; addresses negative perceptions of women and youth which are often fueled by traditional and patriarchal cultural attitudes and practices. Through the programme, we aim to present members of the public with contextually relevant and easily accessible content that will engage and stimulate active support for gender equality in leadership and especially through sharing of success stories of women and youth leadership and positioning women/youth leaders as opinion leaders in political and societal development issues.

Aim of the job

Hivos is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Project Officer for the Women Empowerment Programme. The officer will be responsible for providing support to the operational and programmatic activities of the programme.

Your responsibilities

  • Supports project-related administrative tasks (project logistics support, proposal assessment, CSO partner relationship management, contracting monitoring and reporting).
  • Organizes Hivos interventions within the context of Women Empowerment projects.
  • Represents the project during stakeholder engagements and contributes to communication about the project both internal and external.
  • Supports in the implementation of the learning agenda including research and documentation under the programme.
  • Supports the development of strategic internal reports and programme documents.
  • Coordinates with other units within Hivos to ensure alignment of activities to the organisation's goals.
  • Prepares meeting minutes for programme staff meetings

Your profile

  • A university degree in social sciences or relevant field from a reputable and accredited academic institution.
  • 4/5 years experience in  Project management, Women Empowerment and Gender Equality
  • Affinity with the development sector (donor agencies, NGOS, CSOs);
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently and with minimum guidance.
  • Strong communication – especially writing skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Creative, inquisitive and non-dogmatic mind;
  • Special skills in ICT to effectively interface with the media

What we offer

Hivos offers a challenging position in an international environment. The regional office is based in Harare, Zimbabwe. This position will be based in Zimbabwe. Hivos welcomes international & regional applicants but can only offer a position to only those with a valid work permit for Zimbabwe. Hivos can only offer employment on local terms and conditions.
