WWF-HK is looking for a Project Officer, Wetlands Enhancement in our Conservation team, who will support the continuous improvement of WWF-HK’s local wetland conservation stewardship, especially in the scope of wetland habitat management.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Engage key stakeholders for technical and professional consultation and support on new wetland management interventions.
- Work with project-based collaborators and arrange regular meetings/site inspections.
- Assist with the management of the habitat and infrastructures at MPNR, drafting habitat management work plans and reports, monitoring and recording work progress, providing field technical support, field emergency response and conducting administrative duties such as handling of services/supplies procurement procedures.
- Assist with the Reserve’s Internet of Things (IoT) system integration, including installing sensors and site infrastructures, establishing connectivity and data processing, and developing user interface and central management platform by working closely with relevant contractors.
- Deliver guided tours, site visits and volunteering activities for selected groups, organise workshops, produce education and communication materials related to the use of Nature-based Solution and I&T applications on wetland management.
- Provide support to other teams within WWF such as research and monitoring, visitor experience, development, education, communication and event programs.
- Assist the Conservation Team with technical support on new initiatives and projects related to the conservation of wetlands.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Degree holder in Ecology, Environmental Science/Management, Landscape Studies, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering other relevant disciplines.
- Over 2 years of nature conservation related experience with NGO, government body, or private body with environmental goals is preferable.
- Physically fit to conducting outdoor works under adverse weather condition
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Cantonese (preferably Putonghua as well).
- Good report writing and data management skill.
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Earth/GIS software.
- Driver’s license of class 1 & 2, basic first aid, swimming, cycling and lifesaving skill would be an added advantage.
- A good and independent team player with good organizing, planning, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-minded, well-organized, highly-motivated and positive thinker with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Flexible and adaptive to various working areas especially working outdoors.
- Able to work with various parties independently.
- Strong enthusiasm on nature conservation.
