PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
As the Project Officer - AIHSS, you will be responsible for day-to-day planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating and monitoring activities of ChildFund PNG’s “Accelerating Immunization and Health System Strengthening (AIHSS)” project. You will provide project implementation support in the area of Routine Immunizations and Integrated Primary Health Care in the Districts. You will act as a link between District Health and ChildFund PNG.
KEY DUTIES
- Design strategies on the implementation approach;
- Responsible for planning and implementing all activities indicated in the project workplan;
- Organise resources within ChildFund and those to be provided by NPHA and its health facilities;
- Develop a detailed project implementation plan for the district and support with rolling out of the project activities;
- Support the project coordinator to conduct coordinated quarterly meetings with the Provincial and District Health staff and volunteers to mobilize resources, map out and share with district health coordinators and family health coordinator important dates for outreach clinics;
- Ensure that project specific indicator data collection tools are available and develop a checklist to monitor this;
- Ensure all data collected during the outreach clinics are entered into the data base and/or uploaded;
- Ensure that every village has an updated Child Health Register Book to register all immunization information for children 0- 5 years;
- Work together with the APHOCS Project Officer to map out activities with CHVs and communities to coordinate travel during the implementation of the outreach clinics;
- Ensure timely collection of data on project indicators and develop quarterly, six monthly and annual performance reports;
- Ensure compliance with CF policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in HEO or Nursing
- 2 years’ proven experience in project implementation
- Understanding of PNG’s development context, activities and actors
- Proven experience in EPI and other data management
- Understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods of monitoring and evaluation.
DESIRABLE
- Experience in working with NGOs in cross-cultural setting.
- Understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts with experience using the NDoH routine Health Information System tools
- Experience working in a diverse team
- Strong understanding of expanded programs in immunization and primary health care in PNG
- Experience working in Northern Province is an advantage
