Founded in 1991 to support local activists and journalists in the collapsing Yugoslavia who stood against rising intolerance and hate speech, IWPR has grown into an independent not-for-profit organization that works with media and civil society to promote positive change in closed, in conflict and in transitioning societies worldwide. From global headquarters in the United States and London, we work on the ground in more than two dozen of the world’s most challenging environments.
The Project Officer will work on current grants to provide reporting, evaluation, and administrative support to lead program personnel. More specifically, the Project Officer will be responsible for preparing internal and external project reports, analyzing project outcomes, donor communications, and administrative duties as needed.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting and Evaluation
The Project Officer will liaise between the implementation team and IWPR, to not only report periodically on the project’s outcomes, but also to analyze the project’s mid- to long-term impacts. Under the direction of senior staff, the individual is responsible for presenting accurate and compelling reports to the donor, and also to articulate project strengths and weaknesses for internal planning purposes.
Proposal Development
The Project Officer plays a supportive role to staff and consultants during the development of future project proposals. The individual assists the staff in translating in-country needs and restrictions into future programs by producing initial logic models, preliminary drafts of concept notes, and implementation timelines.
Knowledge Management
The Project Officer is responsible for building and maintaining project databases with meeting notes, quarterly and final reporting, tracking of programmatic decision-making, and general correspondences. The individual has to capture institutional knowledge and lessons learned within the database.
Office Administration
The individual is responsible for some administrative tasks such as organizing meetings, annual events, donor meetings, preparing contracts, and financial invoices. Other administrative duties may be required as needed.
