Project Monitoring Manager: India

One Tree Planted is looking to hire a Project Monitoring Manager to oversee our reforestation projects and partnerships in India.

One Tree Planted is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on global reforestation. As an environmental charity, we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees!

We are looking for a dynamic individual to add to our fast-growing team. The ideal candidate would be based in India (flexible location), have a Bachelor's degree with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, and be a self-starter. You would be supporting our Indian projects team as well as our Global Project Management Team by leading Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for our projects across India.

The ideal start date for this position is February 13th, 2023.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct regular site visits to planting projects across India (including reforestation, agroforestry, and mangrove projects)
• Collect data and media content to monitor project success
• Check data quality with partners & provide support/advice as necessary
• Maintain and administer the M&E database; analyze and aggregate findings
• Provide feedback to the Project Manager on project strategies and activities
• Support with project development, progress reporting and final evaluation.
• Identify areas where technical support to project partners is required. Organize training on M&E for partners as required.
• Identify lessons learned and develop case studies to capture qualitative outputs of the project. Provide advice to the supervisor on improving project performance using M&E findings.
• Assist in building the capacity of existing partnerships and projects to scale up One Tree Planted impact in the region;
• Assist fundraising & communication teams by providing project information and insights
• Translate project information and additional documents as necessary

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree (required); Master of Science in Forestry, Forest Science, or related field preferred
• 2-3 years relevant work experience
• Experience with reforestation or environmental/sustainability projects
• Familiarity with tree species and planting methodologies commonly used for reforestation, agroforestry and mangrove projects across India
• Ability to work remotely and manage a flexible schedule with frequent international calls.
• Willingness to travel frequently
• Familiarity with GIS (preferably open source tools, e.g. QGIS, Google Earth Pro)
• Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Fluency in English and Tamil. Proficiency in any additional South Indian languages is a bonus
• Self-motivated and organized, with strong attention to detail
• Collegial personality and team player
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and creatively address challenges
