What is the opportunity?

Working under direct supervision of the Director of Program Development, the Project Manager for Special Projects is responsible for applying sound project and program management techniques and excellent written and verbal communications skills. This position will manage scopes of work, schedules, and budgets of a variety of international WASH-related projects to support headquarters and country programs and will require field office and client/donor interaction.

A successful Project Manager for Special Projects will:

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, donors, charitable beneficiaries, and general public.
  • Work in a team environment to provide direction and assistance for program related staff.
  • Prepare written proposals and cost estimates for assigned programs and projects.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects.
    • Maintain good communications with the project investor(s), i.e. - in-country staff and in-country partner organizations.
    • Ensure that project is executed according to an agreed upon scope of work, design, schedule, and budget.
    • Prepare and submit agreed upon Project Status Reports.
  • Provide approval of all program and project related expenses and purchase orders.
  • Collaborate with Program Design and MERL team on all related projects for knowledge management.
  • Work with senior leadership to develop and implement annual operating plans and budget.
  • Prepare and make presentations to the Programs team, Global & Investor Partnerships team, donors, and volunteers.

What is required?

  • Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Alignment with the principles of servant leadership as embraced by Water Mission.

  • Master’s degree in international community development, public health, applied Anthropology, or related field of study.

  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience, in the WASH sector preferred.

  • Advanced skills with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with engineering software such as MS Project, AutoCAD, etc.

  • Excellent analytical skills and project management skills.

  • Excellent relationship and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally, as required mostly in developing countries.

  • Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
