ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a member of the Environmental Markets (EM) Technology Development team and will help lead the creation of new tools to drive the efficiency, productivity, and accuracy across the Environmental Markets team activities as well as contribute to the continual improvement and expansion of existing tools (SQL Database, Web Application, etc). These activities include all aspects of a commodities trading organization such as inventory management, contract fulfillment and detailed portfolio and market analysis reporting within the global renewable energy space.
This is a full-time, exempt role reporting to our Manager of Technology Development within the Environmental Markets division. This position may be located in San Francisco, CA, Portland, OR or Portland ME. Exc__eptional remote candidates will also be considered.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will work closely with stakeholders across 3Degrees to understand their challenges, processes, and workflows and apply this knowledge to identify new or improved technology products and solutions for Environmental Markets. You will translate business requirements into specifications for new applications and services, or enhancements to existing ones. You will work directly with the 3Degrees Development Team and EM business units, and quickly become a go-to resource for any process improvement or new functionality. A detailed scope of responsibilities includes:
- Evaluate current system efficiency and functionality by liaising with internal departments and end-users, ensuring that project priorities accurately reflect the needs of these teams
- Develop a deep understanding of user workflows, business needs, and current technologies across Environmental Markets and serve as a go-to resource to outside teams
- Become an expert in our database architecture and champion data quality and integrity
- Create project plans and provide regular status updates for more complex or high priority projects, contributing to templates and best practices along the way
- Gather requirements and define acceptance criteria for new applications and services or enhancements to existing ones
- Collaborate closely with the Development Team, business stakeholders and any related vendors to ensure high quality final products
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of new applications, features, and services
- Ensure end-user adoption and proficiency with new systems, programs, and applications across departments
- Document new or updated workflows and conduct training sessions when needed

ABOUT YOU**
- 7+ years of relevant experience in managing technology-related projects - you balance your technology expertise with in-depth business knowledge. You have experience scoping products, creating wireframes, and outlining user stories and are thoughtful in which tools and formats you use to convey information along the way
- Strong understanding of project management principles with an ability to ask the right questions to effectively gather project requirements and delivery high quality solutions
- You are process and detail-oriented, but flexible in your approach. You are able to adjust to shifting priorities and business needs without losing sight of project needs and timelines
- You are a problem solver and innately curious - you have a love for navigating complexity and tackling ambiguous problems. You understand the tradeoffs between long term, scalable solutions and a quick fix well
- You are a highly collaborative and empathetic team player, but you are also able to respectfully disagree and advocate for what is right when necessary
- You can easily navigate between highly technical and big picture strategy conversations with a range of audiences and are comfortable generating project reports, presentations, and technical documentation
- You adeptly drive efficient conversations and decision making. You’re experienced with a number of different decision making and documentation frameworks and tools
- Experience with the software development lifecycle and change management, with success facilitating internal end-user adoption and proficiency of new technologies
- Familiarity with scripting, programming languages, APIs, SQL and relational database systems, and Jira. What you don’t know you’re able to pick up quickly

HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS**
Within 3 months
- Established relationships with key stakeholders and a general understanding of existing needs and priorities as well as software tools in place today and work in progress
- Knowledge of company strengths, pain points, and priorities related to technology
- Well on your way to understanding the full scope of technologies, integrations, and database architecture related to the company’s business functions
- Able to independently manage small projects or enhancements related to the foundational components of Environmental Markets technology
Within 6 months
- Able to engage in detailed conversations with any business unit relating to project needs and transition these conversations into fully scoped out project plans
- Diagnose and present potential areas of concern or significant challenges within proposed project scopes and recommend alternate solutions to resolve
- Begin to recommend and manage new Environmental Markets technology projects with increased complexity
- Familiarity with the majority of EM workflows and technologies, with expertise in at least a few
Within 9 months
- Strong comprehension of existing systems and flow of information across the company
- Independently and successfully scope out new technology projects of increased size and complexity
- Adeptly manage and prioritize most new and existing technology projects
- Continue growing expertise in Environmental Markets workflows and tools
- Become a go-to resource to any team with questions relating to Environmental Markets technologies

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**
- Compensation: The starting base pay for this position is $88,200 to $122,000 in the US. The total compensation package for the successful candidate in this role may exceed the base pay as it includes other incentive pay. The base pay is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

- Supplemental Pay: this position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs including the company’s profit sharing program and an annual team Bonus Pool.
