PROJECT MANAGER

All Hands and Hearts is a disaster relief nonprofit. Our program bases are located in the communities we serve, and staff members live in communal environments. Understand your responsibility for the safety of yourself and for those around you. Vaccination is required in all in-person work environments including program bases, offices, and team meetings. We will always provide an option for travel-exempt folks to join these meetings and events virtually, to ensure we are providing an inclusive and accessible environment for people who are unvaccinated, vaccinated and at high risk, or avoiding in person events out of concern for others in their circle.

Must be able to secure and maintain appropriate visas. Not open to US residents. The start date for this position is February 15th.

Position Purpose

A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. The position is full-time and is responsible for developing and overseeing the response projects to help impacted communities and managing the construction team.

Reporting Relationships

• Reports to  Program Director
• Roles reporting to position  May include a combination of the following roles: Construction Site Coordinator, Site Supervisor, Site Supervisor Trainee, Logistics Coordinator, Response Coordinator
• Approximate number of reports  2-6

Essential Functions

• Develop the project scopes-of-work, milestones, and detailed timeline and budget and track these accurately, updating the necessary tracking systems e.g. Salesforce, MS Project (note: this role is responsible for all scopes-of-work carried out by the program team and volunteers which may include non-construction related sites)
• In cooperation with the Program Director, oversee implementing the project whilst adhering to the approved timeline and budget constraints
• Establish and develop clear work and safety practices for the project and communicate these with site teams (Response coordinators and volunteer team leaders)
• Support the Program Director in the development, implementation, and review of the Health, Safety and Security procedures for base and sites
• Recruit and train project team members to ensure compliance with project standards in safety and work quality
• Establish assessment criteria and manage and support the project team to carry out assessments and beneficiary selection processes to identify and implement additional projects
• Continuously develop and evaluate the project scope, quality and impact, through a meaningful monitoring and evaluation framework
• Provide supportive leadership, manage a diverse staff team, volunteers and local staff and empower them to carry out their work effectively and efficiently
• Manage and support the team to implement efficient procurement processes for the project sites
• Design and oversee the process of hiring and vetting subcontractors and construction suppliers if needed
• Compile weekly and fortnightly progress reports for the Program Director, as well as supporting compiling program specific fortnightly reports for the organization
• Oversee and lead the training of the staff on site and Volunteer Team Leader
• We understand vaccination is the best way to protect our beneficiaries, community members, staff and volunteers, therefore we require all of our on program staff members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To be considered for this position you must be fully vaccinated.  Subject to applicable guidance, the term fully vaccinated currently refers to when an individual has received either a single-shot vaccine or both doses of a two-shot vaccine, and two weeks have elapsed since the final dose.

Position Requirements

• Education  Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Related Experience Must have project management, as well management experience in a professional setting.  Technical experience working in construction/ repair/ renovations would be desired.. All Hands and Hearts experience is preferable, but not required. Previous International travel preferred.
• Special Competencies/Certifications  Must be able to secure and maintain appropriate visas (Schengen). Polish fluency desired but not required. Driver’s license required. Excellent written and oral communication skills and confident working with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Knowledge of MS Project is an advantage. Applicants need to be well organized and have a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks and prioritizing them appropriately. The individual is able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems. Needs a developed and clear management style.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay rate is $1500-$2000 USD/ month, based on skills and experience.
