Responsibilities

Program/Department Overview

The intern will work within the Economics Team, focusing efforts to support the Economic Capacity Workstream.

Overall Function

The intern will work closely with the Operations Manager within the Economics team. The intern will support the work of the Economics Capacity Workstream to map the internal and external communications, and provide best practices to improve how team members share their work, collaborate, recruit experts, and more. The intern’s work will serve as an essential tool and significantly contribute to the efficiency of the Economics Team.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Map the current communication tools used by EDF’s Economics team, including Microsoft Teams, Slack, email lists, intranet communication channels, newsletters and more.
  • Document the team’s policies and procedures on a variety of communication-related projects including updating distribution lists and document storage on cloud-based platforms.
  • Organize findings to provide clarity on each platform’s intended use, audience, frequency, ownership, and engagement levels.
  • Research best practices for each tool and document findings.
  • Synthesize the team’s overall communications goals with findings on best practices.
  • Present recommendations to Economics Capacity strategy working group.
  • Develop training materials for the team to share findings with other EDF teams and new hires.
  • Participate in advancing EDF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate degree program.
  • Must be proficient in project management tools and researching respective best practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be well organized, motivated, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.

Full-time (35 hr/week)

Compensation

This internship would involve compensation for work paid at a rate competitive with leading non-profits at $17/hr.
