PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the Finance Coordinator - Programs, you will be part of project finance team responsible for timely and collaborative support to project staff on all financial matters related to grants management. This includes project proposal budget development, budget tracking, donor reporting, monthly project financial reports while ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and ChildFund Policies.
KEY DUTIES
- Support in preparing proposal budgets, working with program and business development teams.
- Manage the day-to-day functioning of assigned projects finance, including payment request and settlements, ensuring acquittals are in compliances with various internal polices and grants conditions.
- The holder is responsible to track budget spending and provide financial guidance support to the project team on budget adjustments, expense coding, mapping and budget allocations.
- Responsible for providing accurate donor/stakeholder reports as may be required as per the set template and guidelines.
- Prepare monthly budget versus actuals reports for allocated projects and discuss variance comments with budget holders.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate project asset schedule including write-offs and disposals.
- Support the core finance in ensuring accurate month-end procedures, including program cost allocations, project accruals and prepayments.
- Support project and institution audits/verifications exercises as may be required by facilitating all reports and all support documents.
- Maintaining and updating the projects finance risk register in consultation with program managers and propose adequate mitigation measures and implement approved measures.
- Support on partner assessment, management and capacity building.
- Promote and integrate gender equality, disability, and social inclusion into day-to-day work.
- Ensure compliance with CF policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting /Finance
- Strong desktop computing skills and accounting systems experience, ideally Sage Intacct and payroll systems
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project finance, managing donor funding and grants
- High level administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent work ethics (including attendance, timekeeping, meeting deadlines, respect for others and willingness to share information).
DESIRABLE
- Experience in working with NGOs and/or UN in cross-cultural setting, understanding development in country context and child-focused development programs
- Experience in managing grants in consortium arrangements.
