Who we are

ELEVATE is a leading global business risk and sustainability solutions provider.  In 2021, the U.S. Department of Labor provided an award to ELEVATE to implement the Global Trace Protocol (GTP) project to increase the downstream tracing of goods at risk of being made with child and forced labor to help eliminate such practices in global supply chains, including in Pakistan’s cotton sector. The project has the following outputs:

  • Output 1: increase the number of tested supply chain tracing methodologies.
  • Output 2: increase the number of piloted tools for supply chain tracing.
  • Output 3: increase the dissemination of supply chain tracing tools and methodologies to a broad range of stakeholders.

ELEVATE and its partners have developed a prototype tool to trace cotton from the farms to the mills to the finished products, along with verification of labor rights compliance, supply chain mapping, and supplier management. This tool will be tested during a pilot in Pakistan’s cotton supply chain during the 2022 season and includes a farm-level worker survey.  The project is operating, with the assistance of a local civil society organization (CSO), at the farm level in Sindh and Punjab provinces using the new project tool, which is a mobile phone/computer application, to collect and input the information, as well as Excel spreadsheets. With GTP’s direction, the CSO partner will manage tool users’ visits to the farms and areas around the farms, which may also be done in coordination with auditors from ELEVATE.  The CSO partner will also provide feedback about the tool’s strengths and limitations.
