Overview / Responsibilities
Wood Canada Limited are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to provide engineering support in our Oakville Ontario Office.
This position requires a Professional Engineer with intermediate level experience, successful candidates will be required to work in support of large and small projects, while supporting the team technically and encouraging individual development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Professional services – Act as a consultant to clients
- Manage, prioritize and complete design projects for various clients
- Able to coordinate input from multiple engineering disciplines within more than one office location
- Provide guidance / mentorship and coordinate project work with other Engineers, Technicians, Designers and / or Drafters
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, vendors, and other disciplines to gather information to write reports
- Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
- Responsible for translating operational needs into detailed design requirements
- Lead the development of proposals, project budgets and schedules
- Maintain and develop client relationships
- Participate and document in office, jobsite and safety meetings
- Work as a collaborative team member in the growth of our services
- Project change management
- Communicate with line managers, highlighting issues and deficiencies
- Work with the Project Controls team to ensure schedule and budget updates are coordinated throughout the life cycle of the project
- Expedite Engineers to deliver to schedule, fully understand reasons for delay, and assist in developing recovery plans
- Alert more senior project management personnel in the event of potential delays or change
Skills / Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, with a Professional Engineer designation
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation will be considered an asset
- 6-10 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, preferably in an industrial setting as a Project Engineer
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, codes, standards, and equipment to the design and production of various products
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Time management skills are necessary to manage the various design projects
- Conducting oneself in a professional manner with honesty and integrity
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in team environments
- Support a safe work environment of risk and hazard management and lead by example
