Project Director - Commercial and Industrial – Permanent, Full Time

SkyFire Energy is looking for a Project Director - Commercial & Industrial (C&I) to become part of our solar electric team. This individual will be self-motivated, energetic, personable, and excited to work as part of a fast-growing company in the solar industry.
The Project Director - C&I is responsible for leading and executing commercial and industrial scale solar electric projects from inception to completion. This role represents the Commercial and Industrial Project Management team leader. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) work, project management methodologies, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. This position will report directly to the VP Operations. This role will have all Commercial and Industrial Project Managers and Project Coordinators report to them.
Primary Duties include:
- Develop and implement project plans and schedules, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Lead cross-functional teams, including internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, collaboration and alignment.
- Manage project risks, ensuring that mitigation strategies are in place and effective.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulators.
- Ensure all project activities comply with company policies, standards and relevant regulations and laws.
- Conduct regular project reviews and assessments, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
- Develop and manage project budgets and resources, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and that costs are controlled effectively.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project team members, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, trends and best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Work in collaboration with the Field Operations Manager to schedule, direct and support field teams to project completion
- Manage the Commercial Project Management team: performance reviews, vacation requests, goal setting, hiring process, feedback, coaching and mentorship, disciplinary action, training and onboarding
- Post Project Reviews: customer follow ups as required, Profit and Loss review with VP Operations
- Manage Feedback Loop: collect feedback data, format and present to Estimating and Pre-Construction team or others as required
- Develop and manage Commercial Project Management structure and process in order to provide required feedback and reporting to Financial, Procurement, Estimating / Pre-Construction and Leadership teams
Education and Experience requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction industry, with a minimum of 2 years proven track record of delivering commercial and industrial scale projects
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leadership or people management
- Experience in strategic planning or change management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills

- Strong project management skills, including expertise with project scheduling, budgeting and risk management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on delivering results
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the solar energy industry in Western Canada
- Experience leading diverse, cross-functional teams and managing projects with complex stakeholder requirements
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a good driving record
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate a passion for renewable energy and the renewable energy industry
