About the role;
IWPR is seeking a Project Associate to assist one of its projects in Latin America. This person will report to the Programs Director and will collaborate directly with the project manager, participants, and IWPR administrative area to organize one virtual and in-person event, manage software/online tools, budgets, and manage technical consultants when needed, all in strict observance of the organizational accounting and procurement policies. Experience in communications in a plus.
IWPR is receiving applications from individuals specialized in the areas listed. Applicants may express interest in providing services for one or more of the areas below, depending on their expertise and availability.
Responsibilities:
- Organize virtual and in-person events, including flight, accommodation, meals, technology needs, venue reservations and logistics, coordination and communication with participants, coordinate the development of digital and print material, and any other related aspects;
- Manage and keep updated the LAC office’s software/online tools, databases, contact and content management platforms, websites and e-learning platforms, including performing related procurement processes. Experience in communications is a plus;
- Collect and systematize participant feedback and other data after virtual and in-person events, in coordination with the project manager;
- Keep a record of the financial information associated with virtual and in-person event and online platforms according to IWPR’s accounting and filing policies;
- Perform other administrative tasks related to projects, such as file management for the project, monitoring payments, and coordinating activities.
Minimum requirements of successful candidate:
- Qualification in administration, communication, project management, administration, or related areas;
- Proven experience of at least 4 years of organizing events and performing administrative functions in public or private initiatives or in civil society organizations;
- Basic knowledge of project management and accounting records;
- Capabilities of design, integration, and feeding of online platforms and databases of diverse nature, including contact and content management platforms (Wix, WordPress, HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.);
- Excellent handling of basic Office packages (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and security issues in Latin America;
- Ability to work with goals and deadlines;
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
- Ability to resolve conflicts, work under pressure, and by objectives;
- High capacity for order, efficient time management, synthesis, and assertiveness at work;
- Spanish: Excellent oral and written expression, and active listening;
- English: Strong speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills are desirable;
- Willingness to adapt to the required security measures (digital security knowledge desirable).
Other requirements:
- Good knowledge of the socio-political and media context of Latin America and the Caribbean
