PROGRAMME LEAD, INDUSTRY TRANSITION, CLEAN ECONOMY, LONDON, BERLIN, BRUSSELS (INTERNAL VACANCY ONLY)
E3G is looking for a Program Leader to lead and shape our work to accelerate industrial decarbonisation in line with the transition to a climate-neutral economy. This role will be based in E3G’s London, Berlin or Brussels offices.

Role Overview
This Program Leader role will lead E3G’s efforts to accelerate the transformation and decarbonisation of industrial production processes. This role will require a deep understanding of the connections between industrial decarbonisation, trade and climate policy and a strong interest in the cross-cutting institutions and policies needed to deliver clean, climate-neutral economies in Europe and beyond. The Program Leader will be based in E3G’s Clean Economy Program, leading a small multi-location team across E3G’s European offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop outcome strategies, set strategic direction, and lead forward planning and horizon scanning for E3G’s Industry Transition & Trade Programme in cooperation with the Associate Director for Clean Economy.
- Lead and deliver strategies to shape the transformation of European industrial sectors, including developing delivery plans. Key activity areas will include driving change in Brussels institutions, building support for reform among Member States, and facilitating Europe’s ability to drive cooperation on industry transformation in international forums.
- Develop expertise and profile and contribute thought leadership inside and outside E3G in core areas, to ensure E3G remains at the cutting edge of climate action.
- Lead and manage a small multi-location team based in E3G’s European offices (Brussels, Berlin and London) in line with E3G policies and practice, working closely with colleagues working on other European issues, as well as those working in non-EU locations. Ensure that the team operates within a supportive environment with positive wellbeing and fostering a positive team working, collaboration and E3G culture, working with heads of office, senior management team and human resources.
- Develop relationships and engage with partners, networks, actors, and experts relevant to delivering outcomes. Build and manage a network of key stakeholders including representatives of the private sector, key institutions, government, and civil society.
- Manage set up, delivery, tracking and reporting of a portfolio of grants including planning, allocating and overseeing resources and work, working with team to set objectives and priorities, and ensuring risk management and course correction in response to emerging challenges and opportunities.
- Represent the organisation externally with partners, funders and with media and in public forums as appropriate.
- Plan and engage in fundraising in their area in cooperation with associate director, including forging relationships with key funder contacts and monitoring emerging funding opportunities.
- European travel may be required, but we are open to discussing this if this would otherwise become a barrier to your application.

You are comfortable working on complex research projects and confident in running analytical processes. You will be able to help identify and engage with a range of external stakeholders to understand their perspectives and communicate ideas and findings.
Experience and skills
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience of identifying and delivering strategic priorities for a portfolio of work that includes multiple projects, providing strategic oversight and guidance to colleagues as well as taking a practical role to directly support delivery.
- Deep understanding and experience of working on industrial decarbonisation and industrial policy, combined with a track record of thought leadership on and an understanding of the cross-cutting institutions and policies needed to deliver a clean, climate-neutral European economy.
- A strong network of contacts in the field of industrial decarbonisation both in Brussels and in Member States. Excellent stakeholder management skills including experience of convening and chairing discussions, and of engaging with high-level policy stakeholders.
- Previous team management experience including experience of line management, delegation, team building, remote management, and performance management.
- Experience of budget management, project management and program management, preferably in the context of grant-funded work.
- Excellent written and spoken English, and preferably also strong skills in French, German or another European language.

The salary range for this position will vary according to the country and is based on experience and qualifications. The indicative salary range in UK for this position is ₤60,700 – ₤65,700, in Berlin the range is €68,000 – €73,000 on annual basis. In Brussels the range is €4,597.70 – €4,956 monthly.
- Yearly process for remuneration review.
