SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. Mission
The position will be responsible to focus on children who have either lost or are at risk of losing parental care. This project builds on the belief that meaningful access to quality education ensures that every child has the opportunity to develop to their full potential and become self-supporting active members of society.
The ‘Program Advisor – Education’ will be in charge of leading a newly designed global project in the region. The objective is to increase the reach and outcomes of SOS Children´s Villages in education of children, young people and adults in our target group by providing sustainable, impact oriented and high quality education projects through technical support, global indicators and monitoring of new pilot and existing innovative education approaches.
Location: International Office Region-Asia, Faridabad, India or Asian Countries where SOS Children’s Villages is located.
Duration: Fixed term employment (Annual renewable contract till Dec 31, 2025)
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-year Global project in Education (SFP 1.7) across Asia region and Member Associations to define and shape the approach of SOS Children’s Villages toward education as an integral part of its program portfolio.
- Support in the development of a global user guide which will establish the direction the organisation takes in education.
- Participate in the recruitment, further capacitate and lead the technical experts of education in MAs in Asia regions to drive the implementation of the project, specifically focusing on the quality of Education approaches for children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care.
- Develop a methodology for the mapping, pilot and analysis of new and existing education approaches across the region, together with a group of experts in education and external partners.
- Establish results-based management approach in the field of Education, with strengthened monitoring capacities to ensure the quality of programs and increase opportunities for sustainable funding and partnerships for the education programmes.
- Facilitate the development of strategic partnerships in the education sector with external stakeholders.
- Develop a strategy to promote the need for enhanced innovative education approaches across the region.
- Support the global network of the organisation to replicate practices and foster exchange (different network, MA, wider network).
- Plan, implement and keep the project on track, including meeting milestones, managing risks and budget.
Requirements:
Qualification & Experience
- University degree in a relevant subject, such as education, Early Childhood Development, and Social Development. Further studies on education, innovation or digitalization are an added advantage.
- Candidate should have minimum 10 years of total working experience in the Development Sector and at least 5-7 years of relevant experience in education programs with for children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds.
- Experience in leading education programmes with a cross geo-cultural & multi-stakeholder approach.
- Experience in working with external partners/research partners to develop education guidelines.
- Experience in supporting the development of innovative education approaches.
- Experience in working in a multicultural environment.
