The Near East Foundation (NEF) is offering paid (college credit also available) internships through its US Headquarters office downtown Syracuse, NY. The internship will begin as soon as possible and run through the end of the Fall semester, with potential for extension.
Our internships are in-person and require 10 hours per week (up to a maximum of 15 hours) at NEF's office in downtown Syracuse, NY. The schedule is flexible between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday, based on the student’s academic commitments.
Undergraduate Hourly Rate: $18
Graduate Hourly Rate: $20

Program Research and Support Intern
NEF’s Program team is seeking a Program Research and Support intern for the Fall 2024 - 2025 Academic term, with potential for extension. The Research and Support intern is a dynamic, organized, and systematic individual who supports programmatic research needs by playing a key role in managing, retrieving and communicating relevant information in a timely manner, collecting field data, supporting Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) functions and writing and editing of reports and/or proposal-related and business development materials. They are attentive to details, possesses excellent analytical skills, and discretion. They are willing to learn while engaging and confidently interacting with NEF staff at our U.S. Headquarters and overseas.
The selected intern is a graduate or undergraduate student in a related field with an excellent academic record. They have the potential to: (1) perform effective and timely research to support NEF’s strategy and mission, including but not limited to supporting program and business development; (2) utilize accurate research methods (including properly citing sources) and creating effective reference tools; (3) support special projects and contribute to proposal writing efforts, as assigned; (4) assist staff in developing reports and other documents for diverse audiences including donors and prospective donors; (5) conduct desk research; (6) edit documents as directed; and (7) other program development- and support-related tasks, as assigned.
The selected intern possesses: (1) strong research skills and the ability to effectively analyze and synthesize written material for relevance, clarity, and coherence; (2) excellent writing and editing abilities; and, (3) strong computer skills, including document formatting and chart, graph and spreadsheet creation. A firm understanding of NEF’s geographic and thematic areas of operation as well as language competency in Armenian, French, and/or Arabic are highly desirable.
