Position Purpose
A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. The position is full-time and is responsible for developing and maintaining a queue of long-term reconstruction projects in All Hands and Heart’’s countries of operation, conducting a formal project handover training to our program construction team, and contributing to the creation of a monitoring and evaluation protocol for our International Recovery operations.
Reporting Relationships
Essential Functions
Identify and assess potential International Recovery project sites.
Conduct desk research on building codes, common building designs, reported market costs, and potential project site and base locations.
Confirm building designs for projects. Develop scopes and work plans, full bills of quantities, and labor cost summaries for potential projects.
Create project approval summaries for all potential projects in building queues.
Support a wider team to identify locations for bases for new programs.
Present handover documentation including detailed Project Management Plan to Program. Director and formally train program team on project details and the use of project tracking software and other required tracking and data collection tools.
Provide in-country support for project launch and advise project team for a sustained period after project launch.
Collaborate with Project Manager to solve problems and revise project plans as needed.
Provide technical advice to active projects via fortnightly call.
Advise Ops Director and Program Director on project progress and areas of concern.
Create standard tools and systems required to plan, budget, and hand-over International Recovery projects.
Assist in the creation of strategy, indicators, data collection tools, and data analysis processes for monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of the Project Development team.
Identify local partners and develop agreements to collaborate with: project implementation, fundraising, technical advice, in-country financial operations, and/or future M&E.
Share information and plan activities with Partnerships team and existing program teams (if present in country) to identify local technical resources for advice and assistance, ensure good coordination with local partners, and smooth transition between programs.
Ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed to identify threats and vulnerabilities.
Work with the Project Team to create a security plan detailing standard operating procedures and appropriate contingency plans to mitigate identified risks and reduce or control the impact of an incident.
Work with the Finance team to ensure appropriate expense tracking during the pre-program phase and appropriate handover to the Finance Coordinator at the start of the program.
We have decided to relax the requirement for Covid-19 vaccination for on program staff. While we still strongly recommend Covid-19 vaccination, along with other standard and travel immunizations as recommended by the CDC and WHO, Covid-19 vacation will no longer be required.
