About Access Now
Access Now is a growing international human rights organization dedicated to defending and extending the digital rights of users at risk around the world, including issues of privacy, security, freedom of expression, and transparency. Our policy, advocacy, technology, and operations teams have staff presences in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East/North Africa (MENA), North America, and South/Southeast Asia, to provide global support to our mission.
About this role
The RightsCon Program Coordinator works within the RightsCon team, and across all Access Now teams, to support the development and execution of the program for the 2023 edition of the RightsCon Summit Series (www.rightscon.org), hosted in San José, Costa Rica and online. Program coordinators report through the RightsCon Program Manager, and work closely with the RightsCon team and production partners to establish, operationalize, and implement program processes, develop communications and resources for program contributors, and maintain a standard of excellence for community sessions hosted at the summit.

1-3 years experience working on complex projects across different time zones
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to drive processes and timelines to meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills, able to liaise with many people from various backgrounds
Strong understanding of and appreciation for the key issues and challenges facing the internet and its users
Familiarity with data management, including basic analysis, comparison, and interpretation of trends and patterns
Unwavering attention to detail and high levels of organization
Passionate about the power of collective action and community-building to advance human rights
The Details
Location
This is a 10-month contract position. While we are open to multiple locations around the world, there is a preference for candidates based in Africa or the MENA region. The RightsCon team includes staff based in locations spanning UTC-6 to UTC+8; meetings with your direct manager will generally take place between 12:00 and 16:00 UTC. The successful candidate must possess the right to work in the location in which they will be based. At this time most Access Now Team Members are working through hybrid office arrangements, combining remote at-home work with intermittent use of co-working spaces.
