The Near East Foundation (NEF) is seeking candidates for a Program Assistant to be based in its Jordan office in Amman. For over 100 years, the Near East Foundation (NEF) has worked to build more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive communities in the Middle East, Caucasus, and Africa through education, governance, and economic development initiatives. Working through a network of country offices and local partners, NEF has operations in ten countries: Armenia, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, South Sudan, and Syria. Its programs are organized around three themes: Inclusive Economic Development, Climate-resilient Development, and Stabilization and Peacebuilding.
Position Description
The Program Assistant is a member of the Near East Foundation team regional office in Jordan, reporting to the Program Manager. The purpose of the Program Assistant is to ensure all program responsibilities are performed to the highest standards and according to donor and NEF guidelines. The post-holder also assumes communication and visibility responsibilities for the program operation.
Responsibilities
- Update the Project’s Gantt chart based on actual progress;
- Ensure all program activities are implemented according to the pre-prepared schedule in accordance with the instructions and principles of NEF and approved by the donors. Document all activities and events that take place in the field in line with the method used in NEF and the project and share them with the program manager and whoever is required from other departments;
- Train, support and supervise the program staff, volunteers, and field agents;
- Conduct Institutional Needs Assessment (INA), and assist in the development of capacity building plans in close collaboration with other team members;
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of the collected and stored data as required by NEF MEL team;
- Review and contribute to the finalization of monthly reports;
- Provide feedback on project activities, challenges, successes and challenges for improving performances and sustainability;
- Support in the project statistical analysis (using excel or equivalent tool) for impact assessments;
- Contribute to the program learning activities and analysis;
- Participate in the design and development of future project proposals;
- Perform other relevant duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements:
The successful candidate must be a self-directed individual with the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Information Systems or Project Management or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity with humanitarian and/or development organizations;
- Knowledge and previous working experience within the Syrian context especially in North Syria will be an asset;
- Excellent in written and oral English and Arabic;
- Must be eligible to work and reside in Jordan without NEF sponsorship.
