Program & Curriculum Coach
Reports to: Educational Equity Regional Manager Status: Full-Time, Exempt
At the Social Justice Learning Institute, we are dedicated to improving the education, health, and well-being of youth of color by empowering them to take hold of their educational future using research as a tool for community and social change. We train students to conduct research on problems in their community using a rigorous yearlong curriculum while providing basic academic support (i.e., tutoring, homework assistance, academic counseling, etc.) and college preparatory education. SJLI’s youth learn what it takes to achieve academically in order to go to college and become civically engaged, solution oriented and critical participants in the democratic experience. SJLI envisions an educational system where youth become engaged citizens who discover their best talents and apply them to help improve the world they live within.
Job Summary
The Program & Curriculum Coach ensures that the Urban Scholars program implementation at each site within a district is operating at fidelity. When all conditions are met, the Program & Curriculum Coach functions as a coach to the teacher of record and an intermediary between SJLI and the partnering school site. Since the Program & Curriculum Coach is frequently in the class, students will begin forming a relationship with the coach as a teacher.
Programmatically, SJLI serves 25 students per school site with 1 Teacher of Record leading the class with the assistance of the Program & Curriculum Coach. This candidate must monitor the pacing of the curriculum to ensure our program moves forward for 3 sites within a given district.
Position Summary:
The Program & Curriculum Coach coaches the teacher of record through SJLI’s curriculum to ensure program fidelity. In addition, assisting with tracking the impact of the Urban Scholars program is a necessary component of this position as well.
