   The Role:  Product Manager

   ssential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

   Product strategy

   • Understands the specific market requirements and technology trends for current and future products by conducting product related market research, supported by Voice of Customer received through on-going interaction with customers, partners and other stakeholders

   • Having an understating of the competitors in the industry on a high financial level as well as product offering

   • Provides input into product development and localization plans through market analysis, forecasts, customer needs, etc.

   • Collaborate with the Vertical Market Sales teams to develop and execute plans (product training, product launches, application engineering, marketing campaigns, pricing support, etc) that will increase the market penetration and grow market share for the Transport portfolio.

   • Monitors regional competition with respect to technology, trends, market, and product performance. Gives input to the global Transport product management team on regional competition impacts to products/services.

   • Collaborate with Emerging Markets and Global Product Managers in the development of regional product plans.

   • Lead Africa Transport localization projects in collaboration with Emerging Markets and Global Product Managers.

   Sales and Profitability

   • Drives targeted growth and profitability for the Transport product lines working closely with the sales team e.g. volume and market price. If required, takes action to close any gaps to ensure targets are fulfilled.
   • Understanding of the Transport sales funnel to be able to understand market trends. Identify required countermeasures to reach the set targets.
   • Maximize the revenue and margin for the Transport product portfolio through presales and post sales analysis
   • Ensure that after-market and service are an integral part of the product’s value proposition
   • Participates in technical meetings, conferences, workshops, industry days, trade shows and association events

   Lifecycle Management

   • Execution of product end of life plans including inventory preparation, pricing, communication to the sales teams and customers, etc.
   • Provide support on product problems and failures (analysis, corrective actions and mitigations)
   • Conduct annual pricing and product rationalization activities.

   Guardianship & Support

   • Formulation, execution and tracking  of product strategy across the Africa Region
   • Participates in technical meetings, conferences, workshops, industry days, trade shows and association events
   • Actively  contribute in the development of sales tools
