What is the opportunity?

The Procurement Planner will be integral in developing department goals and controls in a nonprofit environment. This person must be deadline-driven and motivated by the challenge of continuously improving inventory turns while utilizing just-in-time deliveries. The Planner will work closely with internal (domestic and international) teams and external vendors to ensure Water Mission receives the correct cost and quality while maintaining the desired delivery timeframe. He or she will control ordering the correct quantity of products as designated by the ERP system and working with vendors to ensure Water Mission receives the correct product quality.

A successful Procurement Planner will:

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.

  • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.

  • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.

  • Follow up as required with the warehouse team to expedite the flow of materials and documents to meet customer expectations.

  • Work with vendors to resolve any quality and/or delivery concerns and escalate any cost issues to the Procurement Manager.

  • Work with vendors, inquiring about estimated delivery dates for purchase orders and updating delivery information within the ERP based on information solicited from vendors.

  • Complete status reports and data analysis to review and evaluate delivery progress, work in progress, raw material inventory, and finished goods demand.

  • Work closely with counterparts in various country programs to support products needed from USA vendors.

  • Run open purchase order reports weekly to support resolving past-due deliveries.

  • Maintain the min/max level of office materials needed to sustain an everyday working environment.

  • Ensure that products are ordered and received according to policies and procedures and distributed to the correct departments in a timely manner.

  • Assure that gift-in-kind is captured and recorded in an internal report for products that are available within the ERP system.

  • Notify the Procurement Buyer of any product that is not set up in the ERP to purchase from a vendor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What is required?

  • Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.

  • Associates degree, APEX, or equivalent certification is preferred.

  • Fluent in English is required; proficient in Spanish is preferred.

  • 2+ years of procurement planning experience.

  • Working knowledge of NetSuite preferred.

  • Knowledge of procurement techniques and best practices.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for extended periods of time in hot and cold environments.

  • Ability to pass a forklift driving test.

  • Ability to analyze needs and prioritize accordingly while continuously looking for ways to improve processes to streamline requirements.

  • Ability to find innovative ways to solve problems in a constructive and collaborative manner while maintaining Christian values.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently as needed.

  • Ability to reason in stressful situations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback constructively.

  • Commitment to ending the global water crisis.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
