The Role: Process Engineer, Coating
Who are you?
The Coating Process Engineer will be responsible for designing and testing slurry/coating process improvements, in collaboration with the R&D and Production teams, as well as equipment manufacturers. They will also be providing technical support for the production and analysis of key parameters for slurry/coating/laminate and troubleshooting process and equipment to ensure all product requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experimental proposals, analyze results, and draw data driven conclusions, steering iterative improvements to slurry/coating processes
- Generate critical empirical data to support and validate understanding of fundamental process parameters and performance metrics. This includes all aspects of slurry/coating/laminate processing and characterization
- Work closely with upstream and downstream processes to study the effects of coating process parameters and their impact on the overall process, from raw materials to final structured bed assembly
- Review and prepare reports, presentation, and progress updates
- Provide technical support to operators of laboratory instruments and processing equipment, including troubleshooting and development of SOPs
- Implement and emphasize safety, health and environmental control policies and procedures in both personal work activities and in equipment & process design and modifications, in compliance with plant/company policies
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Material Science or Chemical Engineering
- 5-7 years of experience combined in industry and academia
- Experience in development of bench scale POC to commercialized product is an asset
- Experience working with colloid suspension processing is an asset
- Experience working with roll-to-roll processing is an asset
- Technical experience/knowledge with testing of sorbent material
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and diverse groups of stakeholders
- Excellent written & oral communication, and data presentation skills
- Demonstrate strong curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- High level of initiative and adaptability
- Good time management, with ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
