Principal Consultant (Knowledge Hub)
Location: Brighton (you don’t need to be in the office every day, travel to the office would be expected for key company and team events which are typically once a month)
Remote or hybrid: Hybrid (UK working only)
Contract: 1 year fixed term to cover absence due to family leave
Hours: Full time and part time hours considered (minimum 30 hours per week). Full time hours are 37.5 per week
Salary: Circa £55,000

About the role:
The role is responsible for facilitating Itad’s knowledge sharing and learning across the organisation and to external audiences. Working closely with our practices, account managers and strategic initiative leads, they will proactively identify knowledge and communications priorities that engage effectively with the international development sector. Through the sharing of high quality, innovative content they will help position Itad as a thought-leader in the field of MEL for global development, building reputational capital and contributing to knowledge and debate across the sector.
The role will involve capturing knowledge across the organisation, and ensuring internal knowledge curation and sharing equips consultants with the skills, knowledge and resources that they need to win and deliver high quality services whilst promoting a culture of learning. With the Knowledge Hub team, they will identify needs and opportunities for the development of knowledge resources, learning and development training, and spearheading innovative knowledge management and communications initiatives.
The role will also provide high quality technical and methodological advice to support Itad’s MEL assignments. This includes oversight of Itad’s technical quality assurance (QA) processes, providing training, guidance and technical support to our consultants; synthesising learning from our reviews and managing an external pool of QA reviewers.
A reasonable proportion of time will be spent on MEL consultancy projects that maximise the potential for learning and are of strategic importance for broader organisational knowledge and communications objectives. This requires leading and contributing to project delivery, developing and owning stakeholder relationships, supporting the development of strong, high performing teams, contributing to business development activities that build our reputational capital and market presence.
The role is essential to the success and development of our collective work. It will be delivered by close liaison with other team members and other parts of the business. This role requires a collaborative mindset, emotional intelligence and strong organisational skills.
The Candidate:
As a Principle Consultant you will have a track record in managing and leading the delivery of complex projects, setting clear direction, managing risk and ensuring delivery of high quality outputs that meet commercial targets and provide value for money.
You will have a track record in managing and leading monitoring, evaluation and learning assignments with strong facilitation and communication skills and the motivation to share knowledge and learning both internally and across the wider sector. Your technical experience will include knowledge of different approaches to evaluation design in an international development context (such as theory-based, experimental or quasi-experimental, and mixed method evaluations). You will be experienced in facilitating workshops and learning processes, including convenings and co-design processes. You will have experience of qualitative and / or quantitative data collection and analysis techniques.
The core technical strengths of all our consultants are focused around four key areas:
· As an evidence advocate you will use a range of data and analysis tools to apply in a structured and systematic way to produce evidence-based findings.
· As a change agent you can effectively analyse and interpret data to support evidence-informed discussions and use strong client facing skills to deliver this.
· As a project manager you will have demonstrated your ability to pro-actively manage clients whilst building trust, ensuring a quality focus throughout, supported by clear commercial project management skills.
· As a trusted advisor you will have researched and understood client challenges and offered solutions and alternates.
About the Team:
The Knowledge Hub leads on knowledge management, learning, communications and branding, within Itad and externally, and plays a key role in maintaining the technical quality of our work. The team supports Itad’s reputation as a high quality monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) provider and embodies our values, particularly those of ‘technical excellence and innovation’ and ‘collaboration and learning’.
Our multi-disciplinary team includes MEL consultants and learning facilitators, as well as experts on communications, branding and design. We play an important role in driving and supporting Itad’s strategic vision, through facilitating collaboration between strategic initiatives and developing knowledge resources to help staff put the vision into practice and communicate our learning externally.
The Knowledge Hub supports staff across Itad to effectively capture and share knowledge, as well as helping staff deliver high quality work through technical support, training and quality assurance.
Externally, the Knowledge Hub leads on communications and sharing high quality, innovative work contributing to building the field around the use of evidence in international development.
Knowledge Hub team members work on a range of Itad projects that are commissioned by clients and require a mix of internal and external team members. Hence our work involves both organisational and project -related activities.
